I saw an advertisement for a scoring tool, I think it was called Scor Pal. Can anyone help me with info on it? Do you have one? How does it compare to Scor It. I'd like to own a scoring tool and need advice. Thanks
I don't own the Score Pal - but LOVE my Scor-It - I love the fact that you are pressing your tool against a piece of metal to make your score - it's nice and crisp.

I just got my hands on one, and am hoping to play with it early next week. At least, I promised myself if I get my studio cleaned up, I get to play . . .
I can finally see the floor now, after lots of digging . . . ;)

We have matching rooms!!! Or I should say "did have," I finially got mine cleaned up so I actually could stamp again. LOL Please let me know how you loke it as I've been thinking of getting Scor-Pal or the Scor-It.
Here is a link that brings you to the Scor-Pal gallery; some of our best SCS sisters were invited to do demonstrations on some of our favorite styles of cards like the Cami-fold or trifold; looks like an awesome tool! http://www.scor-pal.com/gallery.htm

The Scor-Pal looks awesome and I plan to order one! I don't care for the price of the Scor-It, and I like the flexibility the Scor-Pal has in terms of making boxes and the like.
Whats the difference in price between the Scor-It and the Scor-pal? I think my LSS has the Scor _It for 50.00 or so...and where can I find the Scor-Pal?
You can use a coupon at Archiver's to get the Score it. I got mine for my birthday recently and believe it was about $45 with tax after using a coupon. You can sign up for coupons either at the store or on the website. You will receive both emailed and USPS mailed coupons and a newsletter.

Hey, Julie! If you own the Scor-It too, I'd like to hear your comparison since the Scor-Pal only has a ditch instead of a ditch with a piece of metal in the middle.
BTW.....cute new avatar! ;-)

Just from looking at the pictures I can tell you that the Scor-Pal had only a ditch and the Scor-It has a ditch with a piece of metal to make more of a hinge. How the ditch only works in comparison to the other is what I don't know. The Scor-It also only has one ditch and you move the paper so for the ruler challenged, the Pal may be better. I also like the rubber type surface of the Scor-It that keeps the paper from sliding. It looks like the Scor-Pal has a slick surface.

Yep, I think the main difference is that the "It" has one groove, but the Pal has multiple at various measurements. So, to me, that makes the pal easier and faster when it comes to making boxes and such (things that require mutliple scores) because I am ruler challenged. ;)

Only have the Pal in my possession, so cannot do an actual "comparison" of the two. But, soon as I get to play with it, will share my findings on the Pal.

Actually the Scor-It is VERY USER FRIENDLY for those who are ruler challenged. As mentioned it has a piece of metal that you run your tool on to make your score mark - thus giving it a nice crisp score. This is in the center of the board - so you can move your paper to the right or left to make additional scores easily. I've had mine for a year and got it from Innovative Stamp Creations - every now and then you'll find them on sale with Betsy - she's great to deal with, quick and reasonable shipping.
If you're looking to compare - I think your best bet would be to have someone send you a sample made with each board.

I don't think that it's a matter of how they look as it is how to use it (for me anyway)! I tried the Skor-It in an office supply store and it was very easy and the metal edge kept your scoring tool in line. I just wasn't ready to pay the money for yet another "large" tool to take up space in my increasing mess!
With the Skor-Pal I'd be afraid my scoring tool would move to the left or right and then I'd have crooked scoring. I'd want to try the Skor-Pal before buying it!

But I'm not sure that just seeing the actual score is what people are interested in... at least I know that's not what I'm interested in. It's the simplicity of the process that speaks to me. If I have to move the paper and realign my paper for every score to make a box, that's wasted time, when the Scor-Pal has multiple grooves for simplifying the process.
I think each product has its benefits and each person will like one more than the other. I like the cheaper price, too. ;)

This very well may be true - but if I were making multiple of things that had to be scored, I'd want the best possible score mark there was - if you're looking for the simplicity of the process - then you're best bet is to attend a stamp show and try them out first hand.
Can someone explain the functionality difference of the score-pal and scor-it? So far the only difference I can really tell is the price.
That's the info I was looking for too. Someone who has used both. Is there a difference in the score when it is done on plastic vs the material of the Scor-It. I can see the benefit of multiple lines and the tool connected etc. The Scor-Pal being lighter etc. Lots of great info here so far. Thanks.

I don't know of a stamp show coming to my area until August, but I know that would probably be the best way to go. I'm looking for a nice crisp score that is easy to do with out ending up crooked. I like a lot of features of the Scor-Pal, yet my "gut feeling" is the Scor-It has a better score. Decisions, decisions!!

They let me try the Scor-It at Archivers. It was OK, fine for what it did, but IMHO expensive for what it does at $80 (I think... maybe $75) I like my scoring tool on my cutter for cards, so the only reason to invest in a scorer for me is for boxes and other patterns.
Ellen Hutson is offering a discount on the Scor-It right now. I believe you get an additional $5 off. If you look at her blog you can find a close up picture of the score line it makes. I don't have either item - I use a teflon bone folder! So I can't compare the two!

I use to think this too, until I tried to score regular paper or lighter weight card stock on my cutter, the scoring blade cut all the way through the paper, I have not had that problem with my scor-it. I am able to score 100 cards in under 10 minutes on my scor-it and get a great score, and nice fold.

FWIW I only paid $56 for my scor-it, so there are deals out there to be had on the scor-it. I have not used the score-pal, I think it is totally awesome from the looks of it but can not justify spending the money when I already have a great product.

I've been stamping and scoring a variety of materials with my cutter for 4 years now -- it does the job just fine. And honestly, I'm more concerned about my stamping and how the card comes out in the end than the score. ;)

WOW! That's expensive....All the ones I've seen are between 50 and 54.00. I definetly wouldn't pay 75 or 80 for either one of them. I saw the scor-pal for 40.00 with 8.00 s/h....I probably don't need one at all..I just want more "Decoration" for my shelves!!! There are pros and cons for each one.....still confused.....wish there was someone that used both of them!!!!

I can come by and clean your craft room for you if it'll help you be able to use your Scor-Pal faster! I look forward to reading your comments on the score line and ease of use!!! You always give such helpful, informative reviews!!!!

This happened to me with one Fiskars scoring blade, and I realized that it (the metal piece itself) wasn't "set in" deep enough to the black housing; it protruded so far, it cut the paper instead of scoring. :(
I turned it over, figured I had nothing to lose at that point by tapping it with a hammer a few times, so that's exactly what I did tried again, and, had no problems after that. ;) Although I couldn't say for certain, this may be the same situation with your Fiskars scoring blade, as well . . . ? Not that it matters now, of course, since you have the Scor It and it appears you are very satisfied with it.
