Default scoring on page trimmer or bone folder

if you buy a page trimmer that can score... isn't that doing the same thing as a bone folder?
im having a hard time figuring out what im supposed to do with the bone folder and how to make it work..

and i've bought a page trimmer called the exacto and i just cannot seem to get it to cut where i want it.. i know im supposed to place it where the transparent line is but my goodness that line is thick... lol..
anyway.. maybe i need a new page trimmer and thought i should rather get one with the scoring capability.. recommendations?

I have a trimmer (Cutterpede) which can also score, I do use it alot especially when doing multiple scores for boxes etc. But having said that I always have my bone scorer handy and probably use it the most. To use it mark the top and lower edges of your card/paper where you want to score then place a metal ruler on these marks and run the bone scorer down it pressing firmly but not too hard as to rip your paper. When using a paper trimmer to score you need to find the point which is the actual cutting/scoring point they will be the same.

I score using my trimmer with a scoring blade. But am putting the Scor-Pal on my holiday wish list! I use my bone folder just for the folding part - to get a nice, clean, crisp fold. KWIM?
I don't know the trimmer you have, so I can't help you there. Sorry!

I agree, even if you score with a trimmer or Scor-It type product to get a flush center line, using a bone folder after gives you a nice flat fold. Folding with the grain of the paper also helps too.

Yup, you really need that bone folder for the actual folding of the card. Without it, even if you score it, your card won't stay closed.

I use my bone folder every time I stamp. I lay my paper on the trimmer and then use the bone folder to press along the line and then use it again to get a nice, crisp fold. HTH!

I can't live without my bone folder. I use it to score the center of the card, and then use it to create a nice crisp fold. Also, since I like using Aleene's glue, I use it to smooth out the glue.

In addition to cards, I make small ''altered books'' and would find it impossible to get professional-looking covers without my bone folder! I use it to fold-up the trimmed corners, before I fold the flaps up and over them.
