Does the Cricut cut chipboard? Long term use good?

No, it doesn't cut chipboard, but its amazing all the stuff I can cut out of cardstock with all those cartridges.
Tons of tags, charms, alphabets... and in any size you want! That is the cool thing! ANY SIZE YOU WANT or Need for your project!
I wasn't too impressed with it until I actually saw it in action and what it can do. When it comes to spending on non-SU stuff, I'm very conservative. This is one thing, though, that I should have had sooner!

The only thing needing replacement for long term use are the blades and cutting mat. Eventually they will wear out... but they are inexpensive to replace!

AND... the Cricut has a USB port on the back... that means that eventually the "cartridges" may be downloaded somehow off their website in the future!

Here's a little tip that I got off the Cricut message board.......

To make your mat sticky again, spray with your Stampin' Up! Mist and then wipe with a baby wipe. Let it dry naturally and it should regain all of it's stickiness!! I am still on my original mat and have used it quite a bit already.

Have fun!!

Wanted to add that I haven't had to use the SU mist yet but it is a great tip for the future!! There was a girl on there who has been using her original mat since August and uses it a TON!! Her mat is still just as sticky as it was in the beginning!!

Yep! That magical spray is also good for getting ink out of carpet and is great for a breath freshner. At least that is what Pam Morgan used it for at one Convention!

How does it stay sticky so long? That is just amazing! It's a mystery to me...

Magic?

Way! What a great tip, Robyn! I noticed mine was starting to lose some of the sticky earlier when I was cutting a box (overuse on the first day!). I'll have to try your tip!

Dh noticed the usb port too. I told him no one knows what it's for.... but maybe to hook up to a computer eventually... he said maybe you could eventually buy blank cartridges and then using software, download fonts onto the blank cartridge... kinda like my sewing machine... time will tell.

I haven't even played with mine yet.... DH wants to play with it as bad as me... so I promised him I'd wait till he got home tonight from work and we'd figure this bad boy out together. I can't wait!

I just got back from Walmart and picked up the Mini Monograms cartridge. I also wanted to get another one but guilt hit me!! This is my 6th cartridge!! I am just going to wait until my birthday at the end of January to get the remaining 3 that I am wanting. I am also going to get the case for it. It was $66 at Walmart today. They also had the mats, blades, and toolkits. I am set to go for a LONG time!!

I also have a sneaky Husband. He had a friend of mine order it and have it sent to their house, and they gift wrapped it so beautiful for me. DH never buys me gifts like this..... I hope he continues. Mine came with 2 cartridges, and I purchased Birthday and Beyond today... LOVE IT!!

Default RE: The USB Port...

...OKAY. I don't even have one yet! so take this for all that it is worth (which is probably about as much as the air between you and the screen that you're reading this on...right???)

What I have *heard* is that the USB port makes the Cricut compatible with your fonts. E.G.: If you are a fontaholic (like me) and have tons of fonts stored on your computer, the USB cable enables you to do that. How? That I am uncertain - like I said, I don't own one. But I did get my info from my LSBS - the gals attend all of the industry shows.

I'd like to save up for the big Pazzles cutter...but I've just got *too many* computer issues to worry about a die cutter right now... Oh, well! ~ K

OMG I want one so bad. Hopefully someday my DH will remember the name I keep repeating over and over in my sleep and he will get me one.
