Default Which SET of copic markers?

If you were going to purchase one of the four 72 marker sets of copics, which one would it be (A, B, C, or D) and why???

I started out with the A set from Ellen Hutson. It has a good range of colors and a good grey shader. I think it's a really good starter set.

I would definitely recommend Ellen Hutson - very fast shipping!

I also bought mine - 48 - from Ellen's store. She is quite reasonable and very generous in her research information. Support her efforts!

Default Copic Markers

GinaK has Copic Marker clubs, where you can get one set at a time. I believe it is 6 markers per month. You might want to check that out!

Well, I first purchased set B, then I decided I wanted to pick my own colors, colors that I could use right away and do pretty good with the shading, lol. Soooo, Ive been buying my markers from Ellen Hutson also, awesome service!! I usually buy 5-10 at a time, depending on how much I have to spend for that pay period, lol!

Didn't you find there to be too many grays in the C set? I love a lot of the colors, but I have no idea what I would do with so many grays, especially up front.

I'm glad you asked this question. I'm totally confused too. My daughter needs a set for her architecture/art classes....and I'm excited...cuz that means I'll have them to play with!!! I keep looking at the different sets....know we'll buy at least 72 copics....put so confused what to buy.

Hi, I'm currently having this dilemma too! What I've come up with is that you have to think of the type of images you want/like/need to colour and this might help in the choice of sets. Your daughter would possibly need the set that contains a lot of they grey colours seeing as she will be doing an architecture course. I'll probably go for a set with more floral and skin tones. I don't know if this helps but I hope it does.

I was trying to decide between the originals and the sketch also. I was going to get one of each to test the feel and the nibs, but haven't found anywhere to do that without paying through the roof on shipping. So, I went back to my markers I have and checked out the tips and thought about what I've used. I'm pretty sure I'd prefer the sketch given I pretty much never use the marker tips. But then I wonder if that's because I get more of a line with them using the waterbased markers and I really hate the look. Decisions, decisions.

Did you go the Copic website to see if there is a store that sells them near you (they have a store locator)? I was happy to find out that my local craft store sells them...so I picked up a couple to try! Good luck!

We're in Europe. Everything for stamping is difficult to find.

Hi again, I've read that the sketch have a nice soft brush style nib on one end and also the chisel nib on the other which makes me think the sketch might be better for me. It's hard to tell without trying both I suppose. Still not sure which to get myself!

I have a few of the Originals and a few of the Sketch markers and I wish I could afford to buy the same colours in both type of markers. The Originals are great when you are colouring in small areas. The nib fits nicely in all the little spots. The Sketch markers are also great because it's like using a paintbrush. Both are equally great and like I said, I sure wish I could afford to have both sets.

I prefer the brush tip of the Sketch -- you can even get it in very tiny places, if you use a light touch. The Sketches are also available in ALL 310 colors Copic makes AND you can use them in the airbrush system (love that thing!). Plus, the oval barrel of the Sketch doesn't roll off my table!

Since most people on this site are familiar with Stampin' Up's colors, Ellen Hutson has some new sets that match up to SU's. You can find them here:

http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/t...ets/Categories

Towards the bottom of the first page, starting with Bright Tones and then on to the 2nd page. Ellen also sells the markers individually.

HTH!

I am trying to find out which sets match the SU and it's not listed on the site (or I am just missing it) Can someone tell me and I will probably buying a couple at a time? I really want to buy them from her, her customer service is excellent!!!

Thanks

Diane, they start at the bottom of this page, with Bright Tones:

http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/t...ets/Categories

Here are some direct links:

Brights: http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/t...kers%2C/Detail

Earths: http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/t...kers%2C/Detail

Jewel (Rich Regals): http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/t...kers%2C/Detail

Pastels (Soft Subtles): http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/t...kers%2C/Detail

Neutrals (lots of good grays & brown for shadowing, skin tone & black): http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/t...kers%2C/Detail

Trendy Tones (last two years of In Colors): http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/t...kers%2C/Detail

Completer Tones (these are colors Ellen found that can be blended with some of the other colors in the sets in order to achieve a closer match to some of the SU Colors. Not all of the colors above will match SU perfectly, but they are as close as Copic's colors would allow. You get a chart included in this set that shows you what colors to blend in order to achieve the matches): http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/t...kers%2C/Detail

Got To Have It All (just in case, LOL! I think there's about a $20 savings in this set vs. purchasing them all separately and includes a 24-marker wallet valued at $39): http://www.ellenhutson.com/servlet/t...kers%2C/Detail

Let me know if you have any more questions!
