Okay -- this is probably a "duh" kind of question, but where does everyone buy the silk flowers I see attached to cards in the gallery? I kind of assumed (I know -- you should never do that) that they would be sold loose in bags. I went to AC Moore and could only find single flowers on stems or bunches.
Does anybody buy them loose in bags, or does everyone buy the bunches and then just pull off the flower top to use (and chuck all the stems).
It seems such a waste to buy the whole bunch and then just use the flower top portion (we stampers are a frugal bunch). I'm really curious about this -- thanks!
I personally have not purchased any but have seen them at Archiver's in bottles. Many order them online but can't tell you from where. I've also seen posts that people do buy silk flower bunches/stems and tear them down for the flowers which I think is cheaper. (at least where I live it would be cheaper that way) HTH
Oh sorry; I forgot to add that I too, have not bought any primas. I had actually bought a bunch of fake flowers and have them in two urns framing the door of our laundry room. Whenever I need a blossom or two, I pick them from those urns so I really haven't thrown the stems away. One would hardly notice that any blossoms are missing because I pick them from all over, not just from one spot.
TexasJodyLynn also has a blog where she does Prima and Ribbon shares.
The prima ones look great (not in the pocketbook just yet).
You can also buy white flowers from CTMH and dye them yourself.
Thanks so much for the quick replies! I guess I'll wait until AC Moore has their 50% off bunches of flowers sale (the salesclerk told me it would be soon) and then stock up on them. Like Sophie, I'll keep them in an urn and pick my way through them (this way my husband will think they are decorative flowers -- and not more stamping stuff)! LOL!
I don't use alot of them...but I bought some at Michaels...they are made by Making Memories and come in a small package...2 sizes of flowers and brads for a little over 2.00. They are in the section where they have the eyelets and brads. I bought white ones and yellow with light pink centers
I love flowers - they are definitely my fave motif for cardmaking. I love Prima flowers and the silk flowers made by Doodlebug. But my current fave is the Bazzill Bling Blossoms that match the Bazzill Bling cardstock. They are beautifully shimmery and come in 2 sizes. Completely gorgeous!
At Hobby Lobby they had a half off garland sale, and I bought the garlands that had lots of tiny flowers and 6 different colors. I bought all colors and split them with my daughters. We pulled them of the stem. I save every thing, so I had a large jar that peanuts came in and stored the flowers in there. Easy to see the colors.
