I only have the sizzix big kick, so I can't compare. I love my machine. Very sturdy, has a handle and I can use cuttlebug folders, nestabilities and all sizes of sizzix dies in it. I got it with a 50%off coupon from Michaels.

I vote for the Sizzix Big Kick or Big Shot) only because the Sizzix machines are slightly wider and will accept the Sizzix BigZ XL dies and cutting plates without needing any alterations. (The BigZ XL cutting plates must be trimmed/sanded a bit to fit through a Cuttlebug.)

The Sizzix BS/BK will take any die on the market (to my knowledge and experience). It sits lower, so it feels a little less tipsy when cranking.

I have both (because I bought a CB before the BigZ XL dies came out) and love my CB, but if I had to give up one machine, the CB would get the heave-ho.

Default CB?

I have the CB and it was the best $35 I ever spent on paper crafting supplies! I couldn't be without it for crafting. I chose it over others because of the small size and portability, although, I must say it hasn't traveled far from my desk since I bought it. the only time it iss put away is when the room is used for overnight guests, which isn't often. I am perfectly happy with my purchase - it does every thing I want!

The Big Shot/Big Kick is manufactured in one piece, and it's sturdier than the CB. But it doesn't fold up. If you're worried about storage space, you may not want the Big Shot. But if you do get the Big Shot/Big Kick it's nice not to have to worry that certain dies/plates won't fit if you have the CB.

I like cuttlebug too. Smaller, more portable.

Just my opinion, but absolutely the Big Shot! My friend got the CB, and after I got the BS!, she wished aloud that she had gotten the BS! instead. She said that it just seems sturdier and better built (I would have to agree). She ended up getting the BS!
This WAS by far the best purchase I've made so far.

Smile thanks for your insight!

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with me about the BC vs. BS/BK. I love how some of you even thought to share money saving pointers (coupon at michaels!) I am curious about the CB, but... in terms of wanting to make sure I can use any die I want, at any time, I'm going to go with the BS/BK.
Good points! Although I do like the idea of putting the CB away (I just don't leave home to craft, so being portable doesn't matter to me) but I still think Iwould be disappointed if I found a die I wanted to use and couldn't (easily and quickly too).
You Ladies are THE best! Thank for sharing!!!!
Blessings!

i bought the CB from Michaels and I love it....but now sorta wishing i got a big shot when i hosted a SU night. I live in a small town so getting CB products are a bit harder for me thankfully my rents send them cause they have that sorta stuff close to them. I have a SU demo and have bought several of the popular Big shot dies (top note, scallop envelop, scallop circle, billboard alphabet) and a few that weren't so i can play... but now thinking why the heck didn't i just get the shot starter kit when i bought my dies i've noticed with my CB for best cutting i need the extenders and all the add ons anyhoo for what i payed for dies and that i probably could have saved myself some headaches and moo-la! anyone else thought this... don't get me wrong i LOVE my C-bug just hate the whole fighting to get different dies through it. oh well i guess it's just the way it is!! thanks for listening to my rant!

I have used both and I must say both products are great! I bought the CB with a 50% coupon and feel it is one of the best crafting buys I have made! I have taken my CB to swaps and it was great for travel and use in the swaps. It works like a charm every time. I have not been disappointed. I have a few friends that have both the CB and the Sizzix Big Shot. They like the BS for the longer dies and love the CB for their dies and embossing folders. You can do spellbinders with both tools! Now that Sizzix has embossing folders, both tools handle these equally well! The only advantage the Sizzix has is the longer plates for the longer dies. However there are tutorials out there that will help you use your CB with the longer plates and dies too!
My opinion: You can't go wrong with either tool!

Where is the tutorial site that will help you with using longer plates and dies?
I would really enjoy it. Thanks.

Try this blog from Amy's Sticky fingers: http://amysinkyfingers.blogspot.com/...cuttlebug.html

I also read here on Splitcoast you can get the extra long Sizzix plates at Michael's or Hobby Lobby and they work great with the cuttlebug! Watch the pressure your Cuttlebug uses and adjust to sandwich sizes.

Anyone can google Cuttlebug and Sizzix dies on the Internet and get a ton of information (most refer back to SCS tutorials)

I have the cuttlebug and love it. I saw on the internet the Hello Kitty Sizzix, there is one for $40 and one for $100. My friend loves Hello Kitty and I was thinking of getting this for her. What is the difference between the $40 and $100 models?
