For those that have this, is this one of those "must have" items, or do you think its not worth to purchase? I have a cutting board with all sorts of lines etc. to measure with..thanks
I love this paper for just working on putting a card together. It gives you a place to stamp off if you need to, a working surface for gluing, and the lines are just a convenient reference to eyeball or measure ribbon, mats, etc. Since I don't get out a cutting mat normally, I like having the paper to protect my table, then when it gets too inky or sticky, I just toss it with no cleanup required. Also, you can turn the sheets over, fold them, etc. to get the maximum use out of them.
I don't use it. I think it's nice, but I have a hard time justifying the cost just for something to throw away! I'll probably get some eventually, but right now I'm content with my free newsprint.
I love the grid paper, but I like the new version less than before. Here's why: they used to put a little chart of sizes of paper to cut and fold to make sizes of cards, and I looked down at it every time I stood up to cut CS. I just got a new pack of grid paper, and that chart is gone! Boo Hoo! Why would they have deleted it??
So after that whining, let me answer the question. I love the grid paper. I always stamp once on paper before I stamp on CS, just in case a little something came off the pad, or whatever. Also, when I mount stamps, I often use the lines and stamp before I put them away, to make sure I got the sticker and the stamp correctly aligned. I often doodle on the paper- and while I go through it quite quickly, I know others who use one piece for over a month before they change it.
Call me Type A, but I often put a clean sheet down at the beginning of the weekend, just to 'start fresh' on Friday evening...
I, too, wonder about the expense. 10 cents a sheet just to throw away. I've held off buying it just for that reason. I like to think I'm definitely not a tight wad, but 10 cents a sheet for scrap paper seems a bit much. Does the newspaper ink rub off very badly when you use it?

Don't throw it away ........I have sheets that I have used forever. When I told my customers how you can measure a stamp , they just LOVED it. I have sold a fair few to my customers. I am glad it is in the IB&C
My newsprint is blank, so nothing to rub off. I get "end rolls" from my local newspaper publisher. They are usually free. I use them to cover all my tables for my stamping events. I also tape a big piece on my stamping table for my own work surface. It doesn't have a grid, but I have a cutting mat and a ruler, so I haven't felt too deprived. :-)
I do think the grid paper is very nice--I use it at my upline's events. But I can't justify the cost.
Although I love having a big piece of paper to stamp off on, etc., I've never been able to make myself spend $10 on the grid paper, so I go to the dollar store and buy a $1 desk calendar and use those big sheets of paper instead. I got some last year and I'm not even half way though the pad. I use it until it starts to rip!
I love to use it as it protects my countertops. Also the grid helps to line things up especially when I'm layering tiny sentiments that I just want to eyeball and not measure. I reuse it a ton of times before I throw it away!
I use the gridpaper and it is more than worth the 10 cents a sheet. One sheet will usually last me about a week, or one heavy weekend. It is great for when I am using my wheels and want everything lined up right. I can stamp off on it, measure images, check out how colors look before stamping on my cardstock. I wouldn't be without it honestly.
I use the desk paper calendars as the previous poster talked about - office supply stores discount them heavily by the middle of the year. I've never thought to look at the dollar store though. My current calendar pad is from 2004 and I'm only on April so I have some time!
I love, love, love my grid paper. I've had the same stack since 2001 and still have about 6 sheets left. I use the same sheet forever before ripping it off. I have a hard time stamping without it, because I use it to line everything up.
I absolutely LOVE my grid paper! I also once thought that it was an unneccessary expense, until I decided to just get some once as part of my 'free merchandise' with a hostess order. Now, I have no idea how I got along without it! Of course the grid lines are very helpful and I use it for stamping off and prepping my new stamps just like others have said, but I find I use it for a lot more than that! Because it's the perfect thinness, I like to use it to cut my stamping masks from. Or I'll usually sketch my card ideas out on it real quick before I start putting ink to paper - it helps to get a good idea of how the card is going to come out before I go and mess up any of my *more expensive* card stock! I also use it when I'm sponging the edges of a card - I like to lay the card stock down on the paper and drag the ink to the edge, as well as dab off any excess ink from the sponge, so the grid paper can get pretty messy! I use it for just about any and everything. It's always a well-used, well-worn out, ratty old mess by the time it gets thrown away! LOL I've had my pad for well over six months now and I probably have only used maybe, 6-8 sheets out of a hundred... if that! (I am very frugal so I make sure I use up every square inch of available space on my sheet before throwing it away! ;)) Imagining how long this tablet is going to last me, makes me realize that it was more than worth it to me.
I love my grid paper. I use it all the time for my classes, it looks so clean and professional and really protects my tables.
Plus... when everyone leaves, I pick up the sheets that they have stamped on and put them in a pile for me to use again later. They never get them full enough to warrant throwing them away. Plus, every sheet has 2 sides! I can't stamp without it!

I love using the grid paper. I tried going without for a few months and was always feeling confused - looking for a ruler, measuring stamps, checking alignment.
I feel confused enough at my age without this drama, so I ordered more.
Consider me one that loves the grid paper! Like others, I use it to measure everything, draw a layout on it, use it 'til it's ratty, turn it over and use it some more! Well worth the $$ in my book.

I absolutely love the grid paper. AND it is a bargain at 5 cents a side. I use it for stampin' off, measuring, lining up layers and when I use large background stamps I line my CS on a line so that my background stamps are straight on my cards. I have to admit I use it until it's digusting before I get a new sheet. I write all my measurements for cards on it as I assemble and before I can throw it away I have to transfer all my information. I sell a lot of grid paper when I show customers how to use it.

Thanks for all the comments on the grid paper. I've had it on my wish list for ages, but always come up with something I need more. I have had a few sheets given to me by my upline, and have used it literally for months. I do like the ruler on it to measure ribbon, etc. I have been putting it out at the workshops, but have not yet sold any. Needless, to say, everyone is quite new at stamping, so I'm sure they too think of things they would rather have. Maybe, will get some as free merchandise down the way.
Ok, although it's probably been said already, I LOVE IT and I couldn't get by without it. I use mine until it's pretty much thoroughly marked up, stamped up, glued up, etc. I can line up parts of the card, ribbons, etc. I can stamp on it to ensure my stamp will line up correctly. If it's off, I can adjust the stamping on the card. When I score my card for the perfect fold, it's easy to do this with a ruler and a bone folder by following the lines on the paper. Oh, and it protects my work surface.
I have it and use it sometimes. I also sometimes use plain newsprint (got two big packages of that first and don;t have any little kiddos to color on it, so I have to use it myself!) I also have a glass cutting mat with a grid and often that is my working surface.
My stampers always take home the paper that they were working on. I give measurements and it's great to write notes on. For mounting stamps, I use it to check if my sentiments are straight. I stamp and reposition if necessary.
I can't live without my grid paper and have sold lots of it.

Love it!! I bought some for a class that didn't end up happening, and it landed on my desk. I can't believe I didn't order it before!! I am a very messy stamper, so it's nice to be able to stamp all over it and wipe my fingers & stuff.
I finally broke down and bought the grid paper--love it!! I never thought of using it to mount stamps!! What a great idea! I've been using it for measurements and general scrap- I use both sides until it's so ratty that I can't see some of the lines or everything sticks to it. I'm going to send home a few sheets with my customers at my next class- giving measurements is a cool idea also--thanks for the tips.
I love the grid paper, but I too was sorry to see the chart of common measurements disappear.
I use them at every workshop, as well as on my craft table. I've seen more and more of my regular customers fold them and take them lately, so I've started putting out ''used'' papers (evil laughter).
I use them for measurements in class - spacing & etc - and as a gluing surface so we don't mess up our mats.

subscribing. I am curious about the grid paper but at $13.50 CDN I always think - wow I could order patterned paper for that price......do I really want to PAY for scratch?
Forgot to add what I use to stamp. I stamp on a wodden table and love a "cushion" when I stamp. I bought these large foam mats for $1 in the craft area at Walmart. They come in different colors and are about the size of two placemats. They have great cushion and protect my wood. I use scratch paper over these. I have to admit I sometimes even paper pierce right on them without a mat......lol

Yes you do!
I use it for workshops, then take it home and re-use it until it is covered in ink. I tried using the backside (without the grids, ruler, etc) and couldn't ... so the back only gets used when I'm wheeling.
I'm always using the rulers to measure the bits of paper around the house, or to measure the paper that I put on a card a year ago so that I can redo the card in different colours. Or to measure ribbon.
I truly can't live without it. My customers now want to take it home, so I've made that a hostess "perk".
Love it love it love it!! Its a must have for me...for several reasons, I use it to stamp and/or sb on.
It protects my surface.
I use the same sheet for a very very long time. I bought a pad years ago and am no where near used up!
I also find that it makes a nice padded surfact on which to stamp and helps get a great impression.
I use the lines to help me stamp straight.
I use the measurements/lines to plan and align things.
When I by kits and want to make another one on my own I will trace the precut pages easily using the grid line and cut out and use as a pattern.
