Default SU: Hard to open/close new stamp pads

Have you had difficulty opening and closing your new SU stamp pads? I called DS and was told they will loosen with time-I opened and closed one pad 30 times and it was only slightly better. I will contact DS again.

I noticed that too! My new In Color pads are noticeably harder to open. I've never noticed that with brand new pads in the past either. Hmmm...

I'm not a fan of their new style pads anyway. Thankfully I have kept the old style pads long enough to find out how much I dislike the new ones. They are difficult to open/close and "cup" in the middle! I have already gone through 2 black ones and won't be buying another one. I think they should really look into a better design. I love their stamps but definitely don't like the new style ink pads.

I hate the new style of ink pads! I'm glad I held onto my old ones that you just flip open!

Try rubbing a pencil in the groove where the pad slides. The graphite from the pencil will lubricate it without gunking up the pad. Mine were a bit tight when I first used them but it's gotten better. I'm sort of glad they're tighter--its pretty dry where I live and I'm hoping this will keep them from drying out so fast.

Default tight, but they leak!

Mine leaks... all over my hands, my table, my project....It was the first one I bought, to match some SU color stock.

That's not normal. I'm sorry that's your first experience with the pads. Other than my sticky pads, I really like the style. I'm really bad about losing ink pad covers and I like that they don't get lost. I know others don't like them though.

Exclamation The leaking pad!!

Yea, that's NOT normal! You should call Demo Support Monday, and they will exchange it for a new one!

Oh, I'm so glad it's not just me!!! I feel pretty dumb every time I struggle to get those things open. I figured it was just me though, since my 5 yr. old manages to get them open with no problem. LOL

mine are definitely tighter and harder to open/close...I'll try the pencil thing in the grooves to see if that helps - thanks for the tip.

Mine are a bit tight and I am glad they are. I am a fanatic about closing my ink pads immediately. If you are having a leaking problem, check for a stray thread sometimes a stray thread will "wick" ink all over.

I love my old ones because it seems they are like brand new (reinking as needed) but my "new style" pads seem to wear out with divits and yuck!

Has anyone noticed if the new IC markers are better?
