It can be used in the same manner as any good white cardstock. It is really lovely. It makes a great base, is wonderful for doing light watercoloring and is particularly nice for winter and wedding cards.

It is just about the only white I use... It is absolutely beautiful. It has just enough shimmer to be beautiful without the glitz of glitter....
Honestly, this is one of those products that you have a hard time justifying at first, but you will be hard-pressed to find something negative to say once you have tried it one time.
There is a thread on here somewhere about where to get shimmery white way cheaper than SU...you might want to check that out, I can't remember where it was ( :

You can buy it by the ream very cheaply and actually even a bit more shimmery in 26 colors at Paper Zone. I go through a ream of the white about once a year.
Thank you for posting this and for all the responses. I wanted to use the Shimmery CS for my Christmas cards to watercolor on, but didn't know if it would take it well. Now I know and can't wait to make and post my Christmas cards!!
I got a Christmas card last year, where this was part of a background. It had been layered on top of a blue color...then the white was stamped with some tiny blue snow flakes...and large snowflakes had been cut out of the shimmery silver paper...
