I bought a cleaning pad from Archeiver's about three months ago and it is starting to shred when I rub a stamp across it. Do the SU cleaning pads do this after a while?
I bought mine in 2005. The edges are a bit frayed from frequent washings, but they don't need replacements (yet). It is very nice to know I only have to buy the pads, and not the case again, when I'm ready...

I've had mine since they first came out with 'em. Run the scrubs through top rack of my dishwasher, etc. (caution: they'll warp, if the hot water is too hot, tho). But, they still work faboo!!!
One of my best stamping investments ever!

Hi Julie!!! How ya doing?
I've never run mine through the dishwasher...I'm afraid that all the ink in 'em will get onto my other dishes (baby bottles, etc). Have you ever noticed that?
I usually just handwash them with dish detergent and give them a good rinsing.

Hi, Alana! Good. You?
I rinse 'em out under the tap pretty thoroughly first, and I have 4 pairs of pads, so I swap 'em out pretty frequently to avoid inky build-up; all my inks say non-toxic.
I wash DH's baseball caps in there, too, with one of those thing-a-ma-bobs . . .
But, not with the dishes. LOL!

wait, you can wash the pads?! I was just noticing this afternoon that mine were looking rather grungy, and was debating adding a set of replacements to whatever retired sets I feel like( Is it tomorrow yet?!) even though they haven't started falling apart yet.
I usually rinse mine under running water until the water runs clear. Then I use a plastic pot scraper to get out the extra water and stand it up to dry. (I don't have a dishwasher. SOB!)
I do like the SU cleaning pad -- haven't frayed -- but I did break many of the plastic dodads that hold them in place from taking them out to wash them :(
It was my own fault of course but I guess I don't know how to take them out right.
Oh edit: I want to add that I would LOVE to know what I could do to get them to stay put in the tray now that I've broken the dodads. Anyone have ideas? I tried dimensionals and mono adhesive -- didn't work

Yes, they clean up good! ;)
You can pop 'em out of the plastic container and hand-wash 'em with dishsoap and let 'em air dry. Or, do what I do . . . but, if your hot water tank is set pretty high, they'll prolly warp, which can make it difficult to get 'em back into the container proper. And, for the container to CLOSE proper. Ask me how I know.
LOL!

I have had mine since about 2004 or 2005 ~ I have four and use them all the time.. I just grab whichever one is handy.. I run them under the water faucet. the inserts that is.. and have actually run some through the dishwasher.. they are FAB and worth every single penny I paid for them!

Mine is about two years old and going strong. I just pop the pads out and handwash them in the kitchen sink. I had one from the craft store but it was too small for my SU background stamps. The SU scrub is bigger.
My first one is so old it came with the white pads, before they started selling them with the black pads. I have one of the black pad ones too, and have never had to buy the replacement pads. So 5+ years I guess, and no problems. I have done the dishwasher washing and also hand washing. Now I just stick to the hand washing and air drying.

How long ago did you get your cleaning pad.... They had a bad batch awhile ago and replaced many of them.... You might check with your demo and maybe get a replacement....

It is good. but it doesn't absorb alot of ink. I always have to rinse mine out after two cleanings.
Also I wish it was a bit longer, I use acrylic blocks so its hard when you have a really big block. I am looking for a white one, cuz the black one hides all the ink colors. I rather see what I am cleaning.

This is exactly what I do!
I've had my first one for 5 years now. I finally bought #2 to help out with my groups of 10 stampers. If I need one to dry in a hurry, I just take a towel to it!
Hint: I've used my Zig Painty Pen to mark one side "WET" and the other side "DRY" with arrows pointing correctly in the middle bar. It really helps stampers to "clean" on the wet side, instead of mucking up both sides. ;)

You could try using binder clips. They're strong, come in a variety of sizes and should hold the pad in place when you're using it. I don't think you'd want to leave it clipped on though just in case the clips would rust.
I bought a SU cleaning pad at a garage sale for $2! It was in great condition then and still is over a year later. I have marked the sides "wet" and "dry" and do occasionally wash the pads out with mild soapy water, rinse, and leave in the dish rack to dry. I never thought to run them through the dishwasher! Good tip!
My holder snapped in half, but other than that, no probs. Now I use the pad and a micro cloth towel. I wash on the pad, dry on the towel. It bugged me having 2 pads in a busted container!

I put velcro in mine and on the back of the pads...it works great!
My friend has mostly given up stamping and left her stampin scrub over here, so I mainly use hers now....I like hers so much better! It closes all the way, it seems more heavy duty and the tabs don't snap off! I got mine about a year after she got hers, and mine broke at the hinges and the tabs snapped off too...within a couple weeks of having it. Her's is much thicker too....Design change kinda sucked.
I have two SU cleaning pads, one for classic ink and one for craft. I usually clean them with dish soap and water and let them air dry. One way to keep them from getting dirty too soon is to stamp off before you clean it. Just stamp on to a scrap piece of paper a couple of times before rubbing the stamp on the cleaning pad and it keeps the cleaning pad cleaner longer. My pads are at least four years old and are holding up just fine.
I broke the hinges off my first SU cleaning pad. I'm using the second one now because I threw the parts of the first away-too much trouble trying to use them when they separated. I did try using duct tape but 'no go'. The pads were probably still good if just a little warped.
I know what the other person meant when she says that the design change sucked. I went to a SU party (where I ordered the new one) and looked at the demo's cleaning pad. Hers seemed so much sturdier-the hinges weren't exposed and the plastic just seemed less flimsy. On my pad, the hinge was just a piece of plastic that poked out on the base/bottom and fit into a hole on the other part/lid. The extension on the lid that had the hole broke off on both sides. She said that she had had her for about 4 yrs.
While waiting for the SU cleaning pad to come I bought one at Mike's. I still use it for my metallic ink - gold/silver/copper but it soaks up the cleaning fluid rapidly.

Yeah. I did check with my demo and mine was the one that came out right after the bad batch. She is so nice and offered to try and get it replaced but I said no it was my own fault. thx

Velcro -- I hadn't thought of that -- thanks for the tip. I will try this ;)

I got mine a few years ago when there was a bit of a design flaw with the case and the pads wouldn't fit (SU replace it at no cost.. YEAH!). Anyway, while I was waiting for the replacement I used adhesive backed velcro to get them to stick to the case (one dot in each corner and a few in the center.) It wasn't perfect because they didn't lie exactly flat and it added bulk to the whole thing so I couldn't close up the case but I could take them out to clean them and they stayed in place while I used them. Besides that, I keep it out on my workspace more often than not so it not closing up was not too big a deal.

Do you know if there's a 12-step program for stamping? No, seriously, is there??
Thanks Kathryn. Faeregirl mentioned that too! I did it last night and so far so good. Always great here on SCS to get some awesome feedback and ideas. Why would I ask anywhere else? Thanks everyone! ;)
I've had mine for about 5 years. I have 2 sets of pads so I can switch to a clean one. I wash mine with liquid dish soap, rinse well, and stand it up to try. I've never had any problem with the case but then I never close it. It stays open on my worktable. I had a cheaper pink one that I bought at Michaels. I didn't like the white fuzzy pad as it looked dirty even when it was clean so the black pads of the SU! is excellent - I can't see the stains! Every now and then I need to trim off the strings around the edges but they are still in excellent shape.

Mine did that too, the hinge broke about the third time I opened it and the tabs started snapping off when I was cleaning a stamp. I wasn't being rough with it. The pads are still in great shape, though.
How about velcro? Get the adhesive dots and that should hold them in place.

never thought of using velcro... hmmmmmmm.
i have two Stampin' Scrubs. mostly because i thought i'd lost one. so i ordered another. and two days later, found my original one.
however, the little plastic nubs are broken on both. so i've been using double sided tape. but i might look at velcro. cause it'll hold up better.
