Default thinking of jumping on the 'bug' wagon!

I am thinking of getting a cuttlebug! I went to a local store for a demo but it seemed to not cut through chip board very well. Is there trick? The chip board was from the store but a very close match to the light weight coasters. Any advise?

I have used light weight chipboard and it cut just fine with my Cuttlebug.

I haven't actually tried chipboard, but I would think it would depend on a couple of factors - what type of die they were using (was it a cuttlebut die, sizzix, etc) and using the right "sandwich" or combo of mats/pads to get the right thickness for the die to cut correctly.

I've cut chipboard with mine several times and never had a problem. LOVE IT!! It is well worth the investment.

Ok, I have the Cricut... how is the Cuttlebug better?

I have both (plus a Sizzix). Am I bad?

I don't think one is better over the other...they're different. The Cricut is good because it can cut different sizes and lots of different shapes/letters etc. per cartridge, but you can't cut anything very thick. The cuttlebug can cut heavier things, plus you can dry emboss using embossing folders or even other textured things for different effects.

I love my Cuttlebug!!! I've only had it for a couple of months and I find myself using it all of the time to dry emboss.

The Cuttlebug will cut medium weight coasters--even when they're covered with cardstock. :-) If the cutting plate gets warped, sometimes that will affect how evenly the Bug cuts. Flipping or rotating plates usually solves that. Cuttlebug dies and Sizzix originals will cut chipboard.
