Does anyone know if the TH craft mat he used in his videos can be purchased somewhere? Thanks for your help!;)
I have a Craft mat. But it not the one you're looking for.
I found mine through TAC. From what I've read about the one you're looking for this one is pretty much the same thing. Only it's made by a different company.
And you can find Non Stick mat's at your local stores. I also have one that I found at my dollar store. It looks and works the same way.
When I was shopping for my Christmas baking supplies I bought a huge non stick baking sheet that you could cut to fit your pans. It's twice as big as the one Tim uses and I paid half the price. I simply cut it in half and I use it on two of my tables. They make clean up a breeze.
I have the Ranger Non-Stick Craft Sheet...I got mine at JoAnn's with a 40% off coupon, and I think that they have them at Michael's, too. I really like it, but I HAVE to remember that it is not a cutting mat! There is a review on it at Craft Critique here:
Thank you everyone for your help! I was interested in "smearing" distress ink on the mat and then transfering the ink to paper. I tried that technique with my current mat and it just made a mess. ;)
Does anyone know where the larger (15X18") size can be purchased in Canada? I've looked at Michaels but when ever I go there they only have the smaller size (9X12)
I heard from a quilter that the craft mats are the same ones as quilters use to press their fabric when they are quilting. Think you can get one from a quilting supply store also.

i can ship one to you - check my website - i have ONE larger one in stock right now.
I have a 16 X 24 mat that I got from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It's by Betty Crocker, sells for $9.99 and I had a $5 off coupon. The super large size is great for me since I'm a Technique Junkie and can really make a mess.
Check the silicone oven liners at Walmart. They are very large and only around $10. Could easily cut one in 4 pieces. I have at the bottom of my oven and use another in my craft room. Saw this tip somewhere here on SC, but can't remember which thread.
Silicone baking liner....they used them first, and you can still find a good one as large as a sheet pan (18 by 24 is available). Trim to fit your needs, I have a small 6x6 square that goes for polyshrink and polymer clay. Larger one for bookbinding (covering boards with book cloth), one for just painting.
Quilters found them next...then painters, then crafters.
They are great for under glue guns, or doing decoupage, stamping, ANY messy craft.
Be careful though, always ROLL it if you choose to put it away, NEVER fold - its a metal mesh inside and will permanently crease and become useless.
To clean up, wait for material to dry or cool, easier to wipe away believe it or not. Only exception is alcohol inks or stazon - but a little cleaner will get that up too. Also, these are PERFECT for polyshrink!!!!!
Cooking section will always be the cheapest route for these. Also, if you are in a pinch, parchment paper and freezer paper will work for messes that don't involve heat application.
Thanks for reviving this thread!
Every time I go to JoAnn's I look at the Ranger mat and debate if I want to spend the money. Now that I know there are alternatives, I'll be looking elsewhere. I'm thinking Bed, Bath and Beyond for the Betty Crocker item, though it has mixed reviews for actual baking.
A little off topic, but does anyone else use oven liners? I've used parchment paper in my baking sheets but found it crisps up and burns in the bottom of the oven. I'm afraid the BC baking sheet will do the same.
Hi,
We sell the new STAY PUT Craft Mat from England. The Mat has a non stick surface and is heat resistant. It can be used with, to name just a few, molten UTEE, alcohol inks, paints etc. To clean, simply wash the mat in hot soapy water. The special backing does not wear off. The Mat is 15 " x 19 ".
