He is doing a series of tutorials called the 2 Tags of Christmas which is just amazing.
I adore the distressed look but I've never been sure what to do with his prodcuts to use them properly, so this has really helped me out. Not to mention that I now "need" a whole bunch of the products he is using that I had never heard about, but that look way cool.
Where's the best online place to get these? I did check out some of the links on his website, just checking in with my resources to see if there are any deals out there that I don't know about.
Wow, thanks for letting us know about this. I have some of his alcohol inks, but have rarely used them. Now I have an idea of what to do with them. Michaels has some of his supplies.
yeah, I was actually on his blog the other day. .....first time for me! I have always loved his stuff. he gets such great looks. I bought a few of his distressing ink pads, but have never used them. I'm thinking I want to start using more of his products and learning his techniques. His stuff is really over the top!
Hobby Lobby and Micheal's also carry the Tim Holtz lines. In fact, Archiver's even has his unmounted stamp sets and the holders for Distress inks, EPs, and alcohol inks.
Hello KayinFL! I notice you are in OP and if you ever get to Palm Harbor, near Clearwater, be sure to visit Ruban Rouge. They had Tim Holtz at a workshop there in October and now have improved their online shopping experience. Here's a link:
Like I said, even though their website shopping experience has improved lately, it is not everything they have in the store. You should visit if you can!
I've been using the Distress inks like crazy lately. They stay wet just a bit longer than other inks which makes them great for sponging. Sherry's got a great sample of a tag she made with the Tim Holtz inks on her blog:

I bought the felt rectangles but not the holder he uses for polished stone technique. Then I put Velcro (hook part) on a blank stamp wood handle. Works very well.

Jeanne... I have several of the distress inks but never think to use them. Thanks for the tip and link. You and Sherry have perfected the art of sponging!

wow! thanks for asking this!!! I've been visiting his blog also and am just fascinated with his work. I too was online this weekend trying to figure out where to buy...what I must have....lol
My LSS sends emails out every Monday and they have a blog, I went to their blog and they were talking about Tim's blog so I went there and WOW what awesome stuff he does!!!!
This LSS carries some of his stuff but after the owner saw his blog she is ordering tons of the things he is using these 12 days of Christmas. I can't wait! And then they will do classes using these techniques. Woohoo
I would love to catch some sales. I just bought some of the crackle stuff but haven't used it. And I bought one of the ink pads, also haven't used that. I need to get busy.

The sale that they have at Joann.com is pretty good. It's almost $ 2.00 less for the ink pads and other things, than A.C.Moore. I've just checked them out online, so you would save quite a bit there;)
I've been following along daily, you can check out Tim's Tag Day 9 here: Creative Art by Gerrie . This has been an awesome learning experience having Tim right alongside me everyday. The Grungeboard and hammer rock!

Thanks for the link to this store. I will be down near there next week and hope to check it out!
Thanks for all the links, ladies. I think I need the DVD on top of all the other things, but I know for sure I have to have some of the distress embossing powder, because that stuff just looks so neat. Then, I need the grungeboard because it sounds so cool - and some of the crackle paint and, and, and.... I think I may be in trouble here.
I've loved all the tags, but I have to say if I put all that work in to one little tag, I'd have a hard time letting them go.
Thank you for this link! I have all the Distress Inks because I just love them. I have some of the distress powders and could never figure out why they didn't work for me - now I know! They are suppose to get glossy like other embossing powders. Thank you again!

Exactly what I was looking for - all the products that he mentions using in one place (including the DVD) and some of them are on sale!!!
Thanks, Jeanne!!
Thank you for this link!!! I just saw his Santa stamp and I can now see next years Christmas cards. Now how to hide this purchase from DH....this time of year we both agree to not purchase anything for ourselves. Maybe I can say it was backordered, think he'll believe it???? bawwaa:twisted:

craftyteaspoon.......The distress embossing powders by Ranger will NOT get glossy like the other powders. They actually get a sand paper like feel to them.

My typing error -- I meant to say they do not get glossy like regular embossing powder, that is what I learned on his blog.
Thanks!

Personally, I'm on the fence about them. They're good for some applications, but I'm more for the glossy look of the regular powders. I did use the distress for a couple animal designs I did and it was neat for them.
