Question The ultimate desktop storage?

I have been going from one thing to another trying to find the best desktop organization/storage for scissors, tools, etc. Any suggestions?

I actually keep mine in a small Longaberger basket. I have heard a lot of people use the Tool Turn-About from Pampered Chef.

That's what I use... it's the best solution I've tried so far.

It got a storage thing from Michaels. It it larger than the Pampered Chef, is white wood, and spins. It has small drawers, and plenty of space. I keep alll my most used items in it on my craft table. I think it is from Making Memories, and I used a coupon for it.

I had the Pampered Chef also and bought one of these. I Love it. Works perfectly. Got mine at Mike's also with a coupon. Here is a picture

It is from Making Memories. I bought one yesterday with a coupon. I am painting it a pinkish red color to match my crafting area.

I use the PC turnabout thingy, love it more than life itself Okay, not really, but I do love it for organizing my tools and can't see ever using anything else! Plus, it was cheap

AmberDawn, do you have a picture or a source of where you got your storage? The Making Memories one is so neat, but kinda pricey for me, even with a coupon.

I also have MM carousel and I love it. I have all my stuff right there on my desk and it's amazing.
I got it at Michael's with a coupon and it was about $25. Not bad for such a big and roomy organizer.

If I could get it at Michaels for $25, I would probably go for it! What kind of coupons are using? We don't have a store here, and sometimes I can use my 40% JoAnns ones when we go to the twin cities. Last time I was there, the store I go to didn't have the MM carousel.

I got the MM one--and my ATG sits in the center of it quite well--which was one of the criteria I was looking for. So far--I love it--everything I need is right at hand!

I looked in "search" STORAGE. It was about $8. However, they also had a embellishment storage solution too. I decide to get both. Don't fall for the $15 off your next purchase though, its an advertisement.
I have been waiting on my Mic to have the MM Desktop Storage. This item is less and I got two good organization options for the same price. Thanks for sharing the "collections" website.

Ditto...I actually have two ! One has my Prismacolor pencils and other "coloring" tools and the other is basically everything else, including my ATG...love them!

My storage is handmade. I've decorated several different sized cans with papers and embellishments and my tools go in them. Personally, I think they look cool. Plus they're almost free.

I have a wire rack that doubles my storage space. I got it at a big box home store in the shelving area. It is foldable and I even take it to crops! I sit baskets on top (with supplies in them) and pen holders underneath.

I used to have the Pampered Chef Turnabout, but soon grew out of it. I've looked at the Making Memories Spinner, as well as other brands of organizational tools, and while they are all indeed very nice, none of them will hold everything that I want it to hold.

Then, I finally came across this beauty:

Staples Spinworx Desktop Organizer

I swear on my paper stash ... this thing is the greatest desktop organizer EVER! (Particularly for the price!) Here's a list of everything it holds for me:

-9 x 11 Coluzzle cutting mat
-12 x 12 glass cutting mat
-2 Stampin' Scrubs
-2 color wheels (one is the huge Color Coach)
-15" steel drafting ruler
-Perfect Layers
-Fiskars crimper
-Dymo labeler (and about 5 different colored tapes)
-2 pairs of scissors
-brayer
-Stamp-A-Ma-Jig
-hammer
-2 handheld Fiskars punches
-rotary cutter
-bottle of stamp cleaner
-SU mat pack
-Basic Grey chipboard filing tools
-cutting/piercing tools (craft knife, Coluzzle knife, paper piercer)
-other misc. tools (tweezers, blending stumps, paint brushes)
-adhesives (2 glue pens, Mono Multi, Hermie repositionable, glue dots, bottle of Diamond Glaze, pop dots, and 1/4" roll of sticky strip)
-adhesive removers (2) and sanding/distressing tools
-anywhere eyelet punches/setting heads
-card stock swatch ring (clipped in the side)

And that's just what I can remember and see from here! LOL There's other things in there, too... oh yeah, my bone folder and a box of clear photo corners as well. Maybe I'll get around to taking a pic of it this weekend so y'all can see I'm not exaggerating! LOL ;)

Amazingly, it's not very big either! I craft on a small 32 x 32 card table, and it sits right there, totally within reach, but not obtrusive at all (dimensions - even full of product - are apprx. L12" x W12" x H18"). It's even smaller than a Clip It Up, if that visual helps some of you. It's cool that it spins, too. I LOVE finally being able to have EVERY SINGLE TOOL I might ever need, right at my fingertips. Even my different cutting mats and TWO Stampin' Scrubs!

It probably helps that I have it packed to the gills, LOL BUT... it's amazing that there is still a place for every single thing. I never have to dig around in it to find something, or very rarely do I need to take one thing out to get to another (honestly, only my most infrequently used tools are underneath... things like the different rolls of Dymo tape). It's the greatest thing I've found - best $25 bucks I've ver spent on an organizational item! Hope it helps.

There was a really cute idea in a BH&G magazine that you could expand on. They had dp wrapped around empty soup cans for different items. Theirs was set on a peg board, but wouldn't that be adorable on a lazy susan?

Question

I like the Making Memories desktop organizer that spins but I'm having a hard time finding one and I don't have a Michael's near me. Anyone know a place online that has them in stock?

Smile desk top storage

I have a small desk and on the wall in front of me, hubby put up a cork board on which I have hooks which hold my design cut & regular scissors. It's off the desk so I have room. I also have 2 small three-draw containers where I keep my most used items such as glue dots, pop dots, paper piercer, chalk sponges and all other small items. Hope this helps.

Wink Baskets

I use the Longaberger Spring Basket with divided protector for my Prisma pencils, paint brushes, bone folder, cutting tools, etc.

I use a larger desktop storage basket for cutting mats, 12x12 paper trimmer, greeting cards and envelops, etc.

And they are beautiful, too!

I have my most used items in a tote that I got form Micheals. I like it because I am always packed and ready to go when my girl friend calls and says "want to come over and scrap?"

Thanks for the packing list. LOL!

I just got this delivered by Staples on Monday, and just found your post tonight. I bought it for my work desktop, but I think it just may be re-purposed prematurely to my stamping desk.

I got the bigger Spinworx too and wow is it big. I knew that it would be from the dimensions, but it looks even bigger in real life. That one may actually make it to my home office credenza as intended.

I love our new Staples store, but just happened to check out their sale email to get both of these beauties.

Thanks for sharing.
Cheers!!!

[/quote]

My rearranged office/craft space - Target cubes by craftyteaspoon at Splitcoaststampers

I have 2 of these from Target. They have 2 drawers, a metal side, a side with elastic to hold scissors or whatever, and the inside is removable so you could carry it to another spot or use the inside separately.

Default Skinny Cow

I use a Skinny Cow bag that I bought for $5. It has a main pocket and then small pockets around the main pocket. In the pockets around the main pocket, it holds 3 different types of glue/tape runners, 3 rulers, 6 pairs of sissors (two are for ribbon only), piercing tool, Cozzle tool, embossing tool, etc. The main pocket holds the stamp scrubber, piercing mat/hammer, etc. It actually sits on the floor. I totally love it.

I just read this thread yesterday, when I ran across this website today...some of you have said to have purchased the MM carousel for about $25 at Mike's, so this may be a fair deal as well (not sure about the shipping tho')...check it out here:

- too bad for me, they don't ship to Canada (as of yet, it says).
