I have to get back into scrapbooking for obvious reasons. My husband actually asked me to do some pages for him because he got to blow up some buildings yesterday. I can't believe he actually thought of that! He knew exactly how to take the pictures and everything. Very cool!
Anyhow, I have an HP 7160 All-in-One and it's a great printer but for word processing and stuff like that. I need a good scrap printer, one that won't choke on heavy cardstock, like my current one does now, and preferably one that can print 12 x 12 pages. I don't plan on getting into digi scrapping too much, maybe for an element here and there but definitely for printing titles on, etc.
I do prefer to stick with HP products and any assistance of what to get and what to avoid would be so greatly appreciated because I think y'all are the best. I also want to incorporate scrapbooking into my new magazine too.
My HP all in one office jet rocks, doesn't do 12X12 but it eats up all the CS and vellum I feed it. I even had a coworker who is not into SBing at all comment on how clear the enlarged photos printed, she thought I had them printed professionally.

Cindy, you might also want to consider the type of ink it uses and whether or not it smears. HP has new pigment inks for use with their HP digital fine art media, and those ink cartridges only fit certain printers. I haven't done much research on them yet, and I don't know whether these water resistant inks would allow you to print a digital image for watercoloring, but there's more info on these pages:
Actually, I have been looking for a 12x12 printer that will print on heavy cardstock & this is the one I was looking at - I talked to one of the salesmen at HP and he said he didn't think it would print on the heavy cardstock like SU or PTI. I would be interested in hearing from someone that has this printer to see if it really does work with the cardstock!

I really doubt the cardstock would be a problem. I have a P3210 (a similar style but lower end) and I've printed on 120lb cardstock with fine results. If you change the printer settings properly you should be able to print on just about anything.

Isn't it that the cardstock issue is about the cardstock going around the bend in some of these machines (sorry about the pun) where the paper feeder and output are in the front, that it is just too thick to bend back on itself.
I know I once had a laser printer at work that I could have paper in the bottom tray or feed in from the back - so it seems as though that is the option you may need on these printers for the cardstock to feed in where the cardstock doesn't need to bend. HTH.

Yes, the bending would be the most likely problem. However, that has not been a problem with me with any of the latest lower-end models of HP printers. Even with the thickest PTI cardstock. I cannot vouch for any other brand though.
