Default White Gel Pens

I have tried three different types of white gel pens to use with faux stitching, and none of them show up very well. Can anyone recommend what pens they use and where to find them?

I just got mine in my Stampin'UP! order yesterday and used it for faux stitching on the new Wild Wasabi card stock and it showed up great. Before buying it I had read several post on how good it was. So far I am very happy with it. HTH

I am partial to Stampin' Up! in all things but the white gel pen is really really good. I promise you wont be disappointed with it.

Yeah I agree, the one that SU sells is the best one I've used and I've used a lot of different ones. I think it is SIGNO brand.

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT AGREEMENT!!!!!!!!!!! That SU white gel pen cannot be beat. I posted this question a few months back and got the same replies. I got one and LOVE IT. It's fantastic. I am throwing the rest of mine away.

I too love the SU white gel pen, however in the interest of full disclosure, I want to add that if I fail to replace the cap quickly or store it upside down, or whatever, I do get occasional "skips" in the writing. However, these can easily be treated by taking a soft cloth and wiping off the tip. For me, it happens because a bit of the white gel ink has dried on the tip and it prevents the smooth flow. To keep it flowing smoothly, I've gotten into the habit of simply wiping off the tip before I put it away. It does always work like a charm after that!

I've tried several different white pens and my favorite is the Sharpie Poster Paint - in fine or extra fine point. It is water-based (don't get the "paint" marker which is oil-based). Here is a link to the Sharpie website so you can see what they look like.

Oh - when I said not to get the oil-based version... I've never tried it so it might work too, but I just mentioned it so you'd know there are two different types of Sharpie paint pens.

I vote for the SU pen as well but I have never tried the Sharpie. I will have to give that a shot, too.

I used my sisters White gel pen from her gel pen collection until I bout the one from Stampin' Up. I love it! It doesn't blend into the cardstock like the other cheaper pens.

Ahhhhh maybe that's where I went wrong! I had read about the Sharpie pen and finally found one but it soaks right into the paper. I'll check when I get home but I'm guessing now that it's the oil-based one. No wonder! I'll stick with my SU one for now! Thanks for the info Scoopy!

I love my white Souffle pen! Gelly Roll makes it and not only does it work great on any color CS, it puffs a little bit which works well when you are doing faux stitching!

I have the Sakura glaze white gel pen. I was pretty happy with it until I tried the Uniball Signo gel pen that SU offers. I ordered it immediately! Now I always reach for the SU one when I want white, opaque color. The Sakura is a little more translucent.

I am not sure what brand I have but how do you keep your pen so that it will work. I lay mine on the side but obviously that is not working well because I have to shake it to get it to work. If I stand it tip down will that keep it working better or will it leak out?

I ordered a white gel pen from my SU! demo and can hardly wait to try it! I have some others that I bought, and they're OK. Of those, I like the gelly roll pen the best.

I bought this signo white gel pen from ebbcreations and it works great. I think it is the same as SU.

the version you want to make sure you get from the signo ones is the Japanese version. Belive it or not there is a difference between that and the version made in America. See where the ebbcreations has the Japanese writing on the side of it when you enlarge it? You can also get them at www.jetpens.com (the japanese version). They are the same as the SU ones.

I picked one of these up at my LSS a couple of weeks ago, and it is WONDERFUL!!! I threw my other 5 white pens away. Susan at the shop said the same thing -- it got to be the one with the Japanese writing.

I vote for the white souffle pen also. In fact I just ordered a 2 pack from Ellen Hutson's store. I have the signo, but still like the souffle better.

Wow! I took (most) everyone's advice here and ordered the SU white gel pen (along with lots of other stuff that I couldn't resist) and I should receive it tomorrow. Can't wait to use it after it got such wonderful reviews.

Thanks everyone!

My suggestion would be to make sure that you store it flat, not upside down or right side up. I keep my just lying on my craft table and have never had any problem with it working. I prefer my signo white gel pen over all others that I have tried.

I have too and bought it. Although it is by the same manufacturer, the one from SU! works *so* much better. I think I heard somewhere that SU!'s comes straight from Japan while the other Signos are made here, so they are made differently. The ink that flows out of the SU one is much thicker. I would highly recommend it!
