why did i wait so long to get THAT?
what is your 'THAT'?
i can't believe i waited so long to get a stamp-a-ma-jig...
honestly i didn't catch on to HOW to use it at first. so i was sure i didn't even NEED it. i could just eyeball it for heaven sake! right?! well then i got hooked on kwernerdesigns and she uses it a lot... and DING... got it! so i finally bought one and oh what a wonder it is!
1. Die cut machine. I have had my Big Shot forever now, but when the red Sizzix first came out, I resisted for a long time. Said I would never get one. Not sure why.
2. Ultra clean stamp cleaner. This stuff is awesome! (For stamps, just don't get it on your furniture. Ask me how I know. )
3.Cuttlebug folders. I said, "Oh, I don't need those." Yeah right.
Definately my #1 "why did I wait so long" purchase was the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, #2 was the Big Shot (but I know why I waited on that one- I needed to wait for SU to carry a die cutting machine!)
hmmm, well for me I've loved the SAMJ as soon as I saw it and use it almost everytime I stamp, have been a Sizzix user for a lot of years (from big red to my BS), and the cuttlebug folders were an instant hit because I had been using the embossing folders from Sizzix. Love the Ultra Clean and bought it as soon as I saw in the LSS.
I think my ah ha moment is going to be my new Cricut Expression (I got my Christmas present early). I've been following the posts on the Cricut all year and kept saying no, no, no. But I'm doing more papercrafting than card making and spending more time in the scrpbook store using their dies. I've had the cricut for 4 days and am in love. Why didn't I do this sooner?? Also, not giving up my BS as I still love it and have too much invested to give it up.
You are not the only that has waited forever. I pick it up and put it my hands every time I'm in Michaels. But always seem to put it back down. Do I really NEED it? Let me know!

In the short time I've had mine I cut out "Happy New Years" in a couple of minutes where using my BS and a letter dies took about 10 minutes. I wasted more paper on the BS than the Cricut and I haven't had to go to the scrapbook store to cut out larger letters that I don't have for my BS.
If you do a lot of repetitve cutting for projects then it's a blessing. You just set-up the Cricut to cut how many will fit on page and let it go. It only takes a minute or so to do the setup. Whereas with the BS, you have to cut the sheet down, load the paper, cut, load the paper, cut... The time savings is wonderful for the "non-creative" work.
I bought 4 cartridges during the $29 sale at Michaels and that gives me hundreds of images of varying sizes. I could never afford to have that many Sizzex dies and never would I have the option of the varying sizes nor a place to store all those dies.
I'm ok at cutting out images by hand and for just a few images it's fine, but having the ability to have every cutout look exacly the same is wonderful.
I had to rearrange my stamping area so that the machine is right behind me and makes it very easy to use. I think one of the key factors is that the Expression is big so you need to have it where you can get to it. Otherwise, I can see where you wouldn't use it if you have to pull out and set it up.
For me, yes I think it's a gotta' have and I looked at your blog, very nice work BTW, and you do a lot of cutting so I think you would love it. But, then don't blame me when you get hooked and then spend money on cartridges...
Also, I bought the tool kit - waste of money as you probably have tools that will do the same. I need to get the spatula instead, better tool choice. One last thought, look at the cartridges to make sure they have items you will use. I bought ones that are somewhat generic and match what I would actually use.
I wanted one when I first heard about it, but kept putting it off. It think it was like 6 months later when I finally got one. Whoa! What a difference. I should not have waited that long!

THAT is TOTALLY me!!! Do the exact same thing!!! But one of these days!! Gonna go for it..friend just got one-so got to see it in action -very cool!!
My ATG. I have other much loved items, but none I waited as long to get. I researched and asked questions, and thought about that purchase for SO long before I finally broke down and got it. What can I say. I try not to jump on every bandwagon, and sometimes that means going without something REALLY great until I decide it's for me!
An ATG gun.... didn't get one til this fall -- works soooo much better and I'm not dropping $ on adhesive every week! 2nd place (only because I didn't wait as long) was a really good tabletop cutter. Have to say I don't know how I got along before...

Ummmm....YAAAAAA!!!!! LOL, Sandy O
Oppps, just realized that you may have been talking about the cricut. If you are asking about the SAMJ, then....Yaaaaaa, LOL
My ATG. I waited about a year to get it and I am so glad that I did, it has saved me alot of money doing all my Christmas cards alone, I went through 4 rolls of tape for all of my Christmas cards, I don't even want to think how many snail adhesives that would have been. The next would have to be my Copic's I love them and I am still adding to my collection.
my tabletop cutter. my scor-pal is awesome too, not just for scoring, but i can whip up a super cute box in less than 5 minutes! i just had to have the stamp a ma jig when they first came out. used to use it with all of my wooden steps, although it frustrated me because it seemed to make the whole process take longer. now i never use it because all of my stamps are unmounted and i use an acrylic block.
My paper cutter (the big one SU sells) would be my #1.
Then I would have to say my SAMJ, and my Copic markers. Don't know what I was thinking in waiting on any of them. All three are permanent staples on stamp table and don't ever get put away. O.k. not true, DH built me some marker storage for my birthday and the copics are kept in the storage cubes he made me, but those sit on to top of my desk.

Well, I know the Slice just came out, but it's my first digital cutter. I'd been resisting them in any form for the past couple of years because it just seemed so expensive/frivolous, and as a mainly card-maker I couldn't see how I would really use one all that much. I mean, I had a Cuttlebug, what more could I possibly need, right? Oh, boy, let me tell you, I am now hooked on the whole digital cutting thing. Of course, since I just got the Slice for Christmas, dh would kill me if I told him I'm starting to really like the look of the Cricut Expression... ;-)

I earned it 3 years ago on Great Rewards and finally learned how much I appreciated it last MONTH!
My paper cutter, with self sharpening blades, I now never have to buy another refill blade again, I waited 6 months before I decided that I really wanted one and then another month for a 50% coupon to buy it.

What are these special ribbon cutting scissors and where did you get them?
I don't know if they're "special" ribbon cutting scissors, but I have a pair of "crane" scissors from my fabric store. They are tiny, pointy, and sharp, and in the shape of a crane. They are perfect for cutting ribbon, but usually I'm too lazy to go get them out of the other room. They are also great for cutting out the magnetic anti-theft device that Ann Taylor puts in all their clothes!
I love my scor-pal, too! I didn't think I needed it, but having wonky corners started to become bothersome. Now whenever I give a set of cards to someone, they get a free paper tote because it takes about 3 minutes to make with the scor-pal.
I guess the only thing I have really waited for was my Carl cutter. I waited until I became a demo. It was hard to hold back!
I usually buy what I want when I see it. I absolutely love and could not live without:
My ATG, Scor Pal adn my carl cutter! If you are on the fence about getting the ATG or the Scor pal, get off the fence and go order them! you will NOT regret it.

I agree. My Carl 220 Heavy Duty Trimmer, my ATG and I'm anxiously awaiting delivery of my ScorPal.
No more crooked cuts or "bent" cardstock with my Carl. And OMG, my ATG was love at first use. I had been using photo squares and this is just WORLDS better. I decided that I needed my Scorpal after making and folding 40 Christmas cards. What a pain to line them up and use a bone folder while trying to keep it straight!

i don't know about 'special'
but i did buy a second pair of cutter bee's... for ribbon only. the other scissors i have are older and not nearly as sharp and don't leave a very clean cut to the ribbon. i have a piece of ribbon tied to the handle of my 'ribbon scissors' so i won't mistake them for a regular pair.
