Now that I am in love with the embossing folder/pasta roller idea, I'm wondering what else I can do (besides clay) with the pasta roller. I actually want to use this pasta roller for pasta (I know, I know, weird, huh? ;) ), so don't want to use clay on it. paper, though, I can deal with!
I'm guessing that 13 views & no answers means others are curious, too! Well, I ended up going to Michael's tonight (without a coupon---WAH!) & bought some cuttlebug dies. Guess what? It worked! Now, it probably isn't good for your pasta machine & probably isn't good for the edges on the blade of the dies. And, if there is a warranty (haven't looked) would probably invalidate that. But, nonetheless, if you have a pasta machine & can't get the bug right now, the die cuts did work on mine. I'll try to scan the little tags I did & post.
Oh im so excited i have a 50% off coupon for joanns so I will be buying a pasta machine this week. Oh yeah and some dies. since im spending a whole lot less on the machine I wont feel as bad spending money on dies.
Now, it probably isn't good for your pasta machine & probably isn't good for the edges on the blade of the dies.
Thanks for doing the experiment. YOU ROCK!!!
Do you think that it would still work if you used some type of padding - like fun foam or a mouse pad? I thought maybe that might help protect the pasta machine and the blades on the dies. What do you think?
I am so excited about this! I have a pasta machine - which was probably way more than the cuttlebug - and I think I have used it to make pasta twice and playdough many times........... but what a great use to this machine
Thanks so much for this idea!
I couldn't get more than the die & the paper in on the widest setting of mine. I'm thinking IF you have the pasta machine already this is a good thing to do to get started (and if you aren't worried about it making a mess of your pasta machine). I think I'll eventually still want to get the cuttlebug. Now I wonder if all die cuts are made the same way? Wonder what else would work?
No more money to play with. Guess I'll try to dig out that old pasta machine (though using the kitchenaid & just turning the button to on is SO easy!). I really shouldn't mess up my Kitchenaid pasta roller I suppose! Though, I'll play a bit more I think! A few scratches might not hurt! LOL!
Okay - I bought the die cuts today and decided to try it with the fun foam. My pasta machine is such that if you roll the dial a little past the largest setting, the gap will widen a little bit more. So, I tried that first, but it only embossed the die cut, it didn't cut all the way through the paper. Maybe it might go through thinner paper, but I was using SU paper.
Then I decided to try it on the largest setting. Everything fit through although it was a very tight fit, but then it die cut all the way through the fun foam. :o
So, I couldn't really get it to work right with the fun foam (unless you also wanted to die cut the fun foam). But I also didn't think doing it without the fun foam would really hurt the machine though. I guess only time will tell. In the meantime, I'll be having fun using the diecuts. ;)
so today I got my cuttlebug dies I love them pulled out the pasta machine and the dies dont fit. Can anyone tell me what setting their using theirs on?Please let me know im so bummed:(
