I was wondering if anyone has this versamark pad. I'd like to get the champaigne color. I have seen comparisons using it just as an ink pad and I actully am not impressed with that. But I have seen a tutorial using it right over an already colored image. It did seem to sparkle nice. Can anyone tell me if they like it, dislike it or does the sparkle come off when rubbed seeing as how it is not heat set. TIA
I bought the silvery one. I've used it once and I think I ended up tossing whatever I'd stamped. Now, granted, I haven't used it over colored images, so I have no input there. The shimmer they give is very subtle. I'm hoping it'll look nice using snowflake stamps, maybe as a background, come Christmas so it wasn't a complete waste of money.

That does sound nice! Maybe if you used a darker color it might show up more. Thanks for sharing your experience. When you did use it once did you happen to notice if the sparkly stuff stayed on the paper or came off a little (or a lot)?
I purchased the Dazzle Frost, and while I wasn't blown away by it, I wasn't completely disappointed either. It gives a very soft shimmer effect to your cardstock. I did use it with the cracked glass technique and really liked the look it produced.
I have the champagne one. You cannot rub the sparkles off. It does create a deeper tone than reg versamark. That I like, but not a big enough reason to buy it again.
I have the champagne and the effect is pretty underwhelming. Definitely doesn't add an extra something special like I was hoping it might. When I rub my finger over the image stamped, the sparkles rub around (and I waited about 18 hours to do so). I wouldn't recommend spending the money.

yet another thumbs down (and i sell the stuff) but i just got to be honest. there are better products to get shimmer - it is probably the least effective one i have seen.......
I have both the frost and champagne. You will like it depending on what look you are doing. I have used it on wedding cards just to give it that rich look and like it. I would post a picture, but the camera doesn't do it justice. I have also used it on darker cardstock for another look and like that too. So I wouldn't give it the thumbs down. You just need to play with it a little more.
I used mine to rub over cardstock that I had embossed with the cuttlebug embossed spider web and it looked really cool. It's good for a very subtle look. If you want something with a lot of shimmer and glitter, it wouldn't be a good choice, but if you want subtle shimmer it's good. I think it woudl be really pretty for snowflakes too!
I have the champagne pad and do like the look rubbed over an embossed image on colored for a subtle shine also. I have also used it with background stamps on dark paper to give it just a little shine. I did not have problems with it rubbing off. It is not glitter. It seems the darker the paper, the more you notice the shine.

Thanks everyone for the advice (good and bad). I am going to purchase it. I like the idea of using it over an already colored image. Off to find a good price Thanks again!
I have the champagne and the frost. I bought them at JoAnn's for 40% off, so they were just over $5 each. I didn't think that was too bad! I have stamped them on paper to see what they look like, but haven't really played with them yet! Good luck!
I pulled it out and used it again after replying to your post. I thought I'd give it another chance.
I'm still unimpressed. Specifically, I used it to do a background using the Garden Whimsy little ladybugs on some SU! Certainly Celery CS. It seemed to shimmer a bit right off the bat (more like a pearlized look), but then the CS just seemed to suck it all up, if that makes any sense. It just looks like regular versamark by the time I was done.
I gave it a shot from my heat gun and what little shimmer was left doesn't seem to be going anywhere!
Hope you have better luck than I did.

I purchased mine on a whim and it sat unopened for a month forgetting to return it. And I couldn't even think what I would ever do with it! Especially when reading that everyone stamped with it and it was too subtle.
Well, then I read how Nichole Heady used it and showed how she covered a stamped image with it and then I thought "it's worth a try." She used it how I never would have thought on my own. I just feel limited in creativity, that's why I come to SCS!
My FAVORITE cs is Shimmery. And SU's is ridiculously expensive! I cannot get enough shimmer. I use to add pearlex to non-aerosol hairspray, I'm cheap, what can I say? And it was so inconsistent, sticky and smelly. Using this inkpad is PERFECT!! I'm soooo excited! I demoed it this past weekend and everyone was impressed with it too. So long, shimmery cardstock, I'm making my own!
I have the frost, I don't like gold/warm tones, so I don't plan to get the champagne pad. And I haven't stamped with this yet and I am curious if it will make chalks sparkly if I do the "poppin' pastel" tech with it.
So it depends on what you want. It's not going to be the perfect fit for everyone, but I'm so happy I finally opened it!
There was another thread on these and most people were not happy. I did not buy one because I usually listen to the lovely ladies here who have already wasted their $$$...This place does enable a lot but also saves some big bucks on junk.
blessings.

I missed that on Nicole's blog, do you have a link. Thanks
I have the champagne, and have used it to rub all over cs- I did black, and made my own 'shimmer' paper... worked wonderfully. Then I both layered with it and cut out an image with it- Sorry, no photo!
I have the frost and the champagne colour. Yes on sale-have to spread those dollars! The application I really like is to use a brayer and to roll it onto a cuttlebug embossing folder and through the cuttlebug. As it is VersaMark it does darken the paper and adds a subtle shimmer. This adds more definition to the embossed pattern but it doesn't take away the focus from your main element. Limited use I guess but I really like the effect. Especially handy when you are making a quick and simple card but want an elegant feel.

I just wanted to add that this past Friday I saw a demonstration using the Frost. The demo used the Frost and Pearl-Ex. She used 4 or 5 colors of Pearl Ex and lightly blended with a paint brush to get a really beautiful rainbow effect. I can't wait to give this a try but I plan on attending one of demonstrations again next week before investing any cash!
