Default ZIG Writer markers vs. SU-

I have had the LePlume markers for awhile to use on my stamps, but they are dried up, so I need to get some new ones. I have about 40 of the ZIG markers and wanted to know if any of you have them and how they work with stampscompared to SU. I don't have the SU ones, but do I really Have to have them or can I save $120 and get other things instead?

The reason I use the SU markers is because they match all of my paper and inks that I use which are all SU. If you don't care about matching colors exactly, you could get away with the ZIG markers. I personally have issues with my markers matching EXACTLY. Also, I agree with you that LePlume is not worth the money--they dry up quickly. The really nice thing about the SU markers is if you buy the whole set, they come in an awesome case. Unfortunately, I've been chipping away at my SU marker supplies for years and the nice case isn't available to purchase separately.

I have several of the Zig marker sets (4). I have had them for a few years now. THey work great. After using the SU markers, if I had it all to do over again, I'd buy the SU markers. I cannot justify the expense now. But boy....
I wish I had the SU ones.

Good luck to you

i have some Zig markers but only 1 (black) SU marker and have heard that if you want to use the markers to color on your stamps that the Zig markers do not come off easily. While SU's markers come off with the stamp cleaner. HTH

I love the SU markers, but the zigs are a pigment ink so they are better to use in scrapbooks that you want to last. SU does have stampin writers, but they don't have all the colors yet. :(

I do love the SU brush tip! The are great for coloring!

I just splurged on the marker set this month. To me it's the best purchase I've made lately. I wish I had bought these years ago! I have many different brands of markers but none I've found compare with SU! I love that the colors match.

I have experience with several of these options. If you want markers for cards and fun, then stampin up seems better. If you want markers for journaling in scrapbooks, go with ZIG. The stampin up journalers have seemed drier when I got them than the ZIG. I've used my red stampin up journaler less than 10 times and it already doesn't write very dark.

If you use ZIG markers directly on stamps, Stazon cleaner does a great job of cleaning it off. I like the SU markers (when I've used them at workshops) but since I mainly use markers for scrapbooking I'm waiting until my ZIG markers dry up and then purchasing Stampin' Right Journaling markers. I only have 2 so far and I'm disappointed to hear people saying they dry up quickly since I have been looking forward to getting markers that match!

I've had the ZIG markers for a long timem - more than 7 years and only one or two are even begining to show signs of getting dry.
I just tested the ZiG markers I have to see what SU colors they match. And, many were a very close match. Again I've had the ZIG markers for a long time...so I don't know if they have changed the colors. And, these are the markers I have - I know there are others.

Earth Elements
Chocolate Chip - Chocolate
Really Rust - Pure Brown
Garden Green - Evergreen

Bold Brights
Glorious Green - Pure Green
Only Orange - Pure Orange
Real Red - Pure Red
Pink Passion - Pure Pink
Brilliant Blue - Pure Blue
Tempting Turquoise - Baby Blue

Rich Regals
Handsome Hunter - Hunter Green
Elegant Eggplant - Pure Violet
Ballet Blue - Splash

The basic colors are similar to SU - the more "specialty colors" differ some. I have some markers that do not match any SU colors. Also, the color of the lid is VERY different than the color of the ink in many cases.

Ooops...didn't mean to write a book here!
