I made this card for the Technique Lovers Challenge of the SCS celebration of the 2008 World Card Making Day. For this challenge, Suzy wanted us to use a hand made nested flower to embellish our card. Since IÂ’m also still working on the Dirty Dozen Design Challenges for September, I used the DD sketch to make the following Thanksgiving card, embellished with a nested flower that incorporates the Happy Thanksgiving greeting on a predominantly dark orange card.
I love making nested flowers and the Cricut Expression makes it quick and easy. For this flower, I cut the circles in sequential sizes using the CE to get the correct ratios. I stamped the second to the largest “petal” with a circular, heavily flourished Thanksgiving greeting and then I cut around the curves in the flourish, giving it an irregular, somewhat scalloped edge. Then I cut each of the other petals in a similar way. I set the flower on pieces of lace trimmed paper and embellished with punched branches.

This card is a stunner and one of my favorites. So unique and clever to use the sentiment around the flower's shape! What a fantastic take on the challenge!
Thank you for playing in the challenge! I hope you had a great WCMD
