I wanted to make a thank you card for my wonderful friend Nancy, and knew I wanted to include a bird on it. I bought the patterned paper about two years ago. It's been waiting for just the right time--and this was it. The paper is recycled and printed with soy ink (don't know the brand, but found it at Joann's).
The bird is the two step bird punch from SU (which I don't own, but I traced around one that Nancy punched out for me). I added some color by swiping the ink pad along the edges and across the bird's breast and head.
For the birdhouse I went into my computer and found a pentagon shape. I re-sized it to fit a 4.25 x 5.5 card, printed it out on the back of my patterned paper, and hand cut it. The roof is just two strips of matching paper in a wood grain patten. I cut a hole using my 3/4" circle punch. Rather than glue it flat, I glued a square of black flat on the CS behind the hole. Then I bent (curved) the birdhouse and mounted it with dimensionals with the raised hole over the black square. I made the bird's perch out of a 1/4" hole punch and a tiny scrap of paper. I lightly lined the edge of the punched circle with white pen to highlight the curved edges to make it look like a dowel.
Thanks for looking.

Thank you, thank you again Judy for "my" wonderfully creative birdhouse. I wish everyone could see IRL. The textures and colors are just great. I love the woodgrain look of the roof and the dimension and softness of the bird. I immediately noticed the curve of the house, the black hole entrance and dowel for the birdie to sit on. You always amaze me with your creativity. I am definately going to use your card as my own template (no, not take apart) to use for a hostess club project. The girls would love it. Thanks again my friend. Into my fav's.
P.S. My card had "Nancy" on the rt. bottom front :-)

Wow - I love how you found a way to make everything on here yourself - that takes a bunch of talent and creativity. Love this pretty card you made for Nancy!

Fabulous card, Judy! I love the curvature of the birdhouse, wonderful color choice and shading on the bird! What a treat that you get to meet Nancy in person, after your online friendship on SCS!
