This is adorable! you've used my fave color scheme (red white & blue) but what I really love is the contrast of distressed elements with very clean elements. Beautiful!

You are very kind. Thank you.
As for collage, is that what the layers of squares are? It's easy. Take a 2.5 inch square matching your color scheme. Punch 8, 1 inch square out of coordinating papers. Layer 4 squares on top so that you'll have 8 points showing and then just take the remaining 4 and layer those over some of the original corners so that you have different patterns showing. In this case, the paper I was using was double sided to start with so I saved on paper and I also used solid red scraps from my scrap pile. To look the best, the background sheet with the owl is a 3.5" square and the "collage should be centered on that and then the whole thing placed just slightly lower than center on the card. But, I wanted the Owl to show and be able to stamp in the "Thanks", so I shifted all the elements slightly. I had an ink smudge on that top circle, so I covered it up with the little flower and crystal brad.
Funny how we have different descriptions, but I would call your card "shabby" - it's gorgeous and I can't do shabby to save my life. I may try following your description and see what I come up with! Congrats on your first upload!
