I punched hearts out of four colors. Then I centered the heart space in the 1 3/8" square punch. After gluing the squares on a strip of black, I placed the punched out hearts in contrasting spaces. I then smoothed them into place with a smooth object. The reason I do this is because it then gives you a totally level surface on which to stamp so you get a real even result. It sounds involved but it's not difficult to do.

Very good tip to use the negative space this way -- I will be using this on my scrapbook page for a layout I am going to be doing -- thanks for sharing :-D
