This challenge was serendipitous. On Thursday I had just made a bunch of rolling marble as well as shaving cream backgrounds showing one of my customers some fun things to do with her grandchildren and stamping for the summer. I pulled 5 double fronts out of the one inking I did of the shaving cream--each one fades a little as it progresses. The first one is rarely my favorite because the colors are too bold.
Funny fact--I really don't like pink very much. I had chosen Berry Burst because it doesn't scream pink at me, but as it faded, it quickly became very pink. Then I was stuck making pink cards. Guess I'm all stocked up on pink for awhile. This particular back ground was pulled first. Notice how bright the Berry Burst is. (The Lemon Lime Twist grounding is put on with marker.)
When I make a unique background like this, I don't like to cover it up with a lot of other stuff. I try to choose a design and stamps that complement rather than compete with the background.
This image is a combination of paper piecing and coloring with aquapainter, paint pen, and markers. I flubbed up when I stamped the sentiment and had a remainder mark. I used my markers to turn it into a matching flower. (Pats self on back. Good rescue!)
Notice that it has been featured in the TLC twice. That's because it's just fun--everybody, whatever their ages always enjoy doing this one. Everyone gets a surprise in the end because it's really hard to control or predict the results.
