Thanks to Sabrina (Cook22) for suggesting the website Redbubble for bags, totes, purses to be inspired by. Oh, was I ever! And thank you Angie (ohmypaper) for hosting this IC this week. To say this site was inspiring is a definite understatement. I could do nothing else for the next few days, but play paper.
It was Flower Heart Spring that caught my eye. And I went to work. I've had this 100 Proof Press Anatomical Heart for several years. I thought it would make some fun cards and it has, but this time it made a beautiful heart.
I stamped the heart with VersaMark and embossed with the Sea Foam White EP. Then I fussy cut the different Washi tapes and Japanese Paper for the tiny blossoms to create the 'Flower Heart Spring'. It was fun to watch it grow up the side. The single, vintage velvet blossom added just the right texture. I used the Stampin Up Heartfelt sentiment at the bottom. Brass photo corners to bring a bit of sparkle.
I'd love to hear what you think...may your heart be full today and always...

Wow, I totally see your inspiration here. I think this counts as the second alternative I offered for collages, too ;-). Those photo corners are a wonderful addition, just like the brass fittings on purses.
Last year there was the inaugural biennale of glass art in the exhibition space of the National College of Art and Design, which is just down the road from where I work. And the pieces I most loved were some small jewellery pieces based on things like the lungs and kidneys, blown in clear glass and then with little flowers or decorative elements inside. This brought them straight back to my memory.

Just perfect for your inspiration piece. What a pretty heart and it must have taken a while to do all the pretty blossoms. Super work!!!

Susan, this is AMAZING! First, I can't believe you had the perfect stamp for it. Second, I would never have the patience to build up the flowers with all those tiny bits of washi tape and DP. It came out so great and the sentiment just tops it off perfectly!
Wow!! This is amazing!!! The heart stamp looks awesome with the flowers flowing down the side and the corners add extra elegance. I love that you did this all on a black background! You really nailed your inspiration!!

I saw another piece that I thought you might pick out but I was wrong. However this is vintage Susan. I too have a heart stamp similar to that. hmmmmm.

Perfect sentiment for this heart inspired card and isn't it fun when you can dress up a generic image that you've had for years and turn it into a work of art - beautifully done.
