The challenges required that you follow the sketch, and that you include something "brown bag" themed. I chose to make the base color of my card with Stampin' Up! (SU) Kraft cardstock.
The central panel was stamped with white ink using the retired 2005 SU "Floral" background stamp. I used my Stamparatus stamp positioning tool to stamp the image twice for good solid coverage. This panel was then trimmed to 2-1/2" wide and glued to the card base.
Next to the floral panel I placed a 3/4" wide strip of light green cardstock that had been run through my Big Shot using the SU "Lace" 3D embossing folder.
The main rose was stamped on white cardstock with green ink, then "painted" using a water brush to soften the colors and spread a little bit of the green shade over the entire blossom. This was then cut out with a 0.04" border using my digital cutting machine. It was mounted over the floral panel using adhesive foam strips to raise it off the card surface for added depth.
The sentiment was created using the SU "Birthday Banners" stamp set with the same green ink as the rose. It was die cut with the SU "Bunch of Banners" dies. The die also cuts a border, so I used the same die and ran it through using the same green papers as the vertical panel. The sentiment piece and frame were glued to the card front.
The final step was to attache the two round enamel dots as required by the sketch.
This card was pretty easy to create. Even if you don't have a matching die, or digital cutter, the central rose can be fussy cut by hand. I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5" only because of the many steps it requires. None of the steps are difficult, however.
Thank you to both challenges for the ideas that led to this lovely birthday card!
