This holiday card was made for a sketch challenge that required that I include a hand colored image. I am on a Christmas card binge (it's never too early!), and remembered my oldest Stampin' Up! (SU) set from 1993 called "Stitched Santa". It's the perfect image to color.
I started by stamping the image using Versamark ink and extra fine black embossing powder on heavy white cardstock. After heat setting the image, I used several Copic markers to color him with "woodland" colors with touches of holiday red for his coat and gift ribbon.
When he was done, I used a stitched rectangular die to cut him out, then a banner die just slightly larger than the white rectangle, and finally a rusty brown stitched rectangle just a little larger still. The horizontal rusty brown panel was also cut with a stitched rectangle die.
All the card elements were glued onto a tan main panel, which was in turn glued to a 5"x"7" white card base. I debated about adding a sentiment, but I think I'll save that for the inside.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5" (given that you feel comfortable with hand coloring). I think he will make one of my relatives smile this coming Christmas holiday!
