This card was made for a challenge that required the use of bleaching and/or a sketch. I chose to do both!
The main panel is the deep purple Stampin' Up! (SU) color Elegant Eggplant. I use a 2005 SU stamp name "Floral" which is a background stamp. I used the SU Stamparatus stamp positioner to stamp the image four times with Versamark to get a good solid ink impression, then dusted the stamped image with clear embossing powder and heat set.
After the embossed image had cooled off, I used a small artist brush to dab household bleach to all of the flowers in the stamped image. You can get lighter or more pink shades by controlling how much bleach you use. Notice that the flowers on my purple panel range for a bright yellow to a pale pink, and then a darker pink. All areas that are purple were protected under the embossing, so weren't affected by the bleach.
Since the floral panel is kind of feminine, I chose to make the sentiment block a cropped scallop die cut instead of the cropped square in the sketch. I just felt it was more in style with the flowers.
My scallop dies are nested, but the difference in size between the one I used for the white shape and the next one up in the set was too great. So I scanned in the white one on my Brother ScanNCut and extended it with a 0.08" outline border, then cut the larger shape on the machine. After gluing the white and pink pieces together, I used my paper trimmer to chop off the top and left sides of the shape to match the sketch. The sentiment was then stamped on it with purple ink and mounted on the card front with foam tape to give the card added depth.
I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5". Using the bleach technique is super easy! Just be careful you don't spill any on your clothes or carpet!
