This card was made for a sketch challenge that had the optional theme of "snow". When I saw the sketch was three horizontal bands, I immediately thought of hills of snow with a snowman.
I recently purchased Stampin' Up! (SU) "Penguin Playmates" designer series paper (DSP) that had tons of images of these four characters in different poses. I thought the three friends image where they are working together to create a snowman friend was the perfect design for my card. Unfortunately the image is too light to scan well on my Brother ScanNCut, so I had to use a small pair of scissors to fussy cut out all the pieces.
I started by selecting a black piece of cardstock as the card base. I thought this would pick up well with the details in the playmate's bodies (buttons, eyes, nose and pen feathers).
I used Lawn Fawn's "Stitched Hillside" border dies to cut a white snowy foreground and a light gray background snowy hill. Since I love pink and gray together, I went with a dusty pink sky that served as the main panel on which I glued first the gray, then the white snowy hills.
I liberally put foam tape on the back of the four friends cutouts and mounted them to the foremost snowy hill.
The sketch tag was a bit more of a challenge, but I used a large format Mary tag punch and first punched a black tag, then a white one. I used my paper trimmer to cut off about 1/8" on the sides and bottom of the white tag so it would keep it's shape, but leave a "mat" border around it when glued to the black tag.
The sentiment I chose fit well with the scene since the friends obviously love one another and are having great fun together! The sentiment is from SU's retired "Mistletoe Season" photopolymer clear stamp set.
The tiny bow was made using a dusty pink Offray ribbon which I then stuck to the tag using mini glue dots.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "3" just because of the need to fussy cut out the images. If you have your own images with matching dies, this would be MUCH easier!
