This is my adaptation of a class I took at a local scrapbook store. The Perfect Plum cardstock is distressed with Close to Cocoa and Vanilla inks and it gives it a whole new look. I used the Simon Lower Chipboard Alphabet as a template for the letters. I would have used the chipboard itself except for the fact that I was doing this as a layout for my scrapbooking hostess club and was not about to buy 12 sets of the chipboard! Yipes!
The centers of the flowers have Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds glitter, but I'm not sure you can tell that in the scan.
The Pale Plum cardstock is a 3 x 12 inch strip folded in half to make a little hidden journaling "booklet." It is kept closed by two little magnets at the bottom - one between the background paper and the journaling booklet, the other is hidden beneath the green flower. The journaling is computer generated on Certainly Celery cardstock and is mounted beneath. The journaling reads:
"How do you love someone you do not know? I cannot understand it. I have no recollection of you, Daddy. You died when I was but 20 months old. But when I look at these pictures taken of you and me, I am overwhelmed with love for you, so much so that it brings tears to my eyes. And in your eyes, I can see your overwhelming love for me.
Mama said that when you brought me home from the hospital, you were so afraid you would break me that you would only hold me on a pillow for the first few weeks. She always told me how very much you loved me. I know how much she adored you, so I know you must have been a wonderful man.
I wish I had had the chance to get to know you - to remember you - but even without that, I do know I love you.
