I will be adding a pin backing to this to make it into a broach.
Heat a CD with your heat gun for several seconds, then cut abstract shapes with a scissors. If you try to cut it cold, the CD will splinter. Apply Chalk or Brilliance ink to desired colors. Heat set. You can add more color to intensify the background, but heat set between each layer of ink. Stamp image with Staz-On. Heat set. Cover piece with versamark or embossing ink and apply clear embossing powder. Heat. You may need to add several more layers of embossing powder to get a smooth glass-like surface. Before you emboss, the piece may seem a bit dull, but it will brighten up a lot with the embossing.
If you have to heat it too many times, you will notice the background color start to fade just a little, so make it bright at the beginning. Give it a try!!

Hi!
I think these are beautiful. Thank you for putting the instructions on to but just so I can make sure I do this properly would you mind to help me a bit more. I am still fairly newly so a lot of this is still new - how did you get the background images and color on this blue one- you mentioned chalk (SU Chalks?) and brilliance (?) but I wasn't sure - did you use versamark too? Is it also possible to add a hole to it to put onto a string - have you tried it? Thank you in advance. I think this is a fabulous idea and appreciate the help.

I just love this idea! I am trying to make pins for my daughters teachers for Christmas, however, I can't figure it out. When you apply the chalk, how are you applying it? Is there some kind of trick to this?
I need them by the 18th of Dec. and my hubby is getting annoyed at all the cd's I am wasting.
