For the masking tape background you cover a piece of cardstock (any kind / any size) with masking tape pieces in a random pattern. Use ink pads and sponges to cover the masking tape with ink (I used creamy caramel / rose red). I use an inverted ink pad to apply the first color intentionally trying to get the ink to catch on the ripped pieces of the masking tape and then sponge the second for accent. Ink won't dry on masking tape so you have to emboss with either clear UTEE or regular EP. The EP will stick anywhere there's ink on the tape. The image was stamped on glossy white cs and colored in with markers. The edges are deckled and sponged.
** Mono adhesive won't stick to the embossed masking tape - you have to use some other form of adhesive, a liquid glue will work but you have to give it time to "set-up".
