Yes, I put ModgePodge (MP) all over the frame, placed the pattern paper on top, smoothed it out really well (with my bone folder or ruler or something); gave it a little time to dry;
covered it with MP again and put the letters or embellishments on, let it dry; MP again.
I also found, for those words that were too big to use the cardstock letters with, you can stamp the smaller letters and emboss with clear powder, to prevent the smearing of the stamped colors - you could also do this with whatever stamp you wanted. I found that if you just stamp w/the regular ink and cover w/MP, it smears the colors and it looks permanently wet. I hope this helps! Good luck!
