Good morning! It's lateeeeee! I really didn't want to stay up this late tonight because I couldn't keep my eyes open. I am TIRED! But when the FS challenge came out, and I wanted to play. The only time I really get to play the challenges are on the weekends.
The Featured Stamper is Lori known as "LmcAree" and she has a wonderful gallery. I saved a few cards that I wanted to case, but I chose this one. SC182 by LMcAree at Splitcoaststampers. Our family is patriot and we really get into July 4th every year to celebrate the birthday. We either all wear Old Navy shirts representing the year or the kids and I will make our shirts. But we always wear our Americana hats. We go all out with the foods and American soda cans too. Ok, onto my story.
I started out by deciding what dp I wanted to use. Took me quite some time and ended up making my own b/g for the squares. I stamped the stars randomly with the cordinating inks and used a square punch to cut out. I layed the squares onto red c/s and adhered. I added faux stitching with the white signa pen all around. My eyes had a tough time trying to color an image tonight, because I am tired. So, I decided to use our Family Photo from July 4th. I used white c/s through the printer/computer, sized to a wallet, and trimmed. I added star brads to the corners with my pierce tool. I had this scrap piece of ribbon and I thought it would look great here. But I didn't have enough of it to tie a bow. But I figured something out about tying it to make it end up with the correct side and not the knot showing. It's almost like the original way but you are adding another step...make sense. I was just playing around with it and left it. Anyhow, the photo image is mounted onto white/navy blue c/s and with foam tape for added dimension and same goes for the sentiment. The words are from my stash of stickers that are foil and mounted using foam dots. I really enjoyed making this card because it will go into our family scrapbook. Of course, I'm going to make more of these for my boys scrapbooks too. Thanks for the challenge and thanks for dropping by.
What do you think?
Bonnie
Things I changed:
1. Used photo instead of stamped image
2. made own b/g dp instead of using dp
3. added ribbon/brads
It's bed time...see you in a little while and thanks for commenting.
This card measures 3 X 3...It will go into our scrapbook as part of the page.
