Fun was had by this person, doing the MIX for today (a playing card alteration), yesterday's WT (musical instrument) and the ABC16 challenge for J-JUNK!
Once I decided what to use for the base, this came together quickly. I am going to put this in the center of the journal we created for Falliday. My brother often gets mail from Serbia, he always gives me the envelopes with the stamps. Usually I cut off the stamps but I left this intact. I put some gesso on most of it but barely covered the addresses on the front and back. The color in the stamps influenced me to use warm DOx colors, applied over the gesso, then used a long stencil in various places with picked raspberry. The stencil has music notes on it. I picked out a bunch of stamps that applied, featuring the Club Scrap grand piano. The 'PRACTICE!' stamp is probably my oldest stamp, it's PSX, I would use it if I mailed a card or letter to my flute students. My teacher would always tell me to go home and practice after a lesson. You can see the two playing card pieces for the MIX. I had bought these mushroom playing cards at an antique store, I'm guessing they're 1970's or so and I didn't want to cover that up. So I gessoed the edges only. I also did one with the reverse side of the playing card. Final touch is a thin coat of gold acrylic paint around the edges. I cut the right and left edge of the envelope so I could tuck in the two playing cards.
There is also a second picture of the other side, not that much different but some different stamps. I love the penmanship of the man who sent the letter. American penmanship is going downhill every day. Thanks for the challenges!
