I can't begin to imagine all the turmoil and grief that Joyce, our destination this week for MMTPT336 Big Things Come in Small Packages is going through. While I would rather be in work earning money, I was glad to be able to have the extra time to create a special card for her. I chose both options, making an ATC and adding it to a mixed media base.
For the base - I scribbled gelatos on white card and then softened and smudged them with a baby wipe. When it was dry, I stamped the lace stamp, using Smokey Grey stamed off once, so it's quite soft. I added some paint in the corners, and Stickles all round the edges, with more Stickles dropped onto the paint when it was dry.
For the ATC - I retrieved the plate stamp (as a nod to afternoon tea) from a bag of purged items waiting to be free-cycled. After stamping it with the blue, I embossed it with clear EP, and then cut it into small scraps, as if it had fallen and shattered.
I covered my ATC with double-sided adhesive and stuck my "broken china" onto it in a mosaic, and then sprinkled glitters over it and burnished the glitter into all the gaps. To add definition to the edge, I embossed it with blue EP.
I added a little flower made from a scrap of lace, with a gem brad with Stickles on it for the centre, and a flourish cut from a spare scrap of paper. The sentiment seemed suitable - in the rain and dark days that life sometimes throws us, we can believe that the sun will come out again and bring us a rainbow, and it went with the soft hints of colour coming through under the lace.

Sabrina, this is so pretty! Is the ATC removable? It's totally fantastic. I've never tried that technique, but it gives such a cool effect, that I will for sure try it soon.I love your lace flower too.

What a beautiful creation. The lace bkg is amazing...the light grey was the perfect color choice and the stickles accented the lace so nicely. The ATC is pure genius..the willow pattern with the gold is stunning. You manage to incorporate so many interesting techniques into your cards.
