I want to start by thanking the Color Challenge team for inviting me to participate this month as a guest designer! I feel deeply honored and I have had so much fun! This week's challenge is truly a challenge for me since the dessert option was watercoloring which I feel very uncertain about. But I was lucky that Monday's Technique challenge was to do something called Watercolor Splash technique. I had fun using the Tempting Turquoise ink to create a fun background. That probably would have been enough to qualify me for dessert all by itself, but I decided to plunge into the deep end of the pool. I used the smooth side of the watercolor paper to stamp my flower and used the ink from the lid of the pads to paint each petal. I went over each petal several times, drying in between to try to create the depth of color I wanted. I finally added a drop of two of ink refill to the lid. Then to create shadows I picked up a bit of Basic Gray marker scribbled on a plastic surface to add shadows where I needed them. I added some white paint dots to the flower center after painting that to create some highlights. I dyed my white satin ribbon with the rose red ink pad and layered that onto a Regal Rose ribbon strip. I added some turquoise sequins.

Hi Kathy! Now y'see, this is what a challenge is all about. I challenged myself with this dessert option, too! What a wonderful card you created! The depth of color on your flower is superb, and I love the turquoise watercolored background, too. Double dessert for you! Thanks so much for designing with us this month. Your creations are beautiful!

What a beautiful combination of colors with your watercoloring and background. Your sequins pulled it all together. Beautiful card.

Beautfully done, Kathy! You've got a great technique already conquered by patiently adding layers until you are okay with the shading (not like I'm any expert, just from my own experience). Love the background too! Great having you as a guest designer this month, I hope you continue to join us each week when you can!
