Now that we are almost into August, my mind turns to making cards for the upcoming holidays. I chose these two challenges because the "repeat after me" made me think of a line of stockings on a fireplace, which was reinforced by the 52CCT holiday card that included stickers.
My card base is an 11"x 4.25" Stampin' Up! Basic Black cardstock folded in half so it hinged at the top.
The "chimney" was formed using a 5.5"x 4" scrap piece of retired SU Rose Red cardstock that I put in a Taylored Expressions brick fireplace embossing folder that I had first inked the "mortar joints" with Color Box silver pigment ink. I think it turned out really "bricky".
I cut a square in the brick panel for the opening, then used a pencil and ruler to draw the fireplace opening "corners" on a scrap piece of SU Basic Black cardstock. I then glued this onto the back of the brick panel so it appears you are looking into an empty fireplace.
Although by the time I finished putting greenery on it, you couldn't see it, I created a wooden "mantle" using SU Kraft cardstock that I stamped with the SU "Hardwood" background stamp inked with SU Early Espresso. I mounted that on the brick wall using adhesive foam strips. The foliage was diecut from three different shades of SU green cardstock. They were attached the mantle using Tombow glue.
The three stockings were stamped onto SU Whisper White cardstock in SU Real Red, Marina Mist, and Wild Wasabi inks. They were punched out using the matching retired SU "Build a Stocking" punch. The snowflake stickers were some I found in my stash that were silver glitter ones. I used matching alcohol inks to color each sticker before sticking them to the stockings. The stockings were then attached to the "mantle" using adhesive foam strips.
The sentiment was diecut from Sulky Puffy Foam using Sizzix "Seasons Greetings" dies by Tim Holtz. The greeting was too wide for the fireplace, so I used my heat tool to shrink them to about 70% of their original size. They were glued onto the fireplace using Tombow.
Finally, the assembled fireplace panel was attached to the black card base using Tombow glue.
The card had a lot of steps, but none of them were very complicated, so I am rating the difficulty level as "2" out of a possible "5". I'm sure whomever I send this card to in December will really like it!
