For Dina's Splat! mixed media challenge. Not really my style but I was game to give it a try. Since my first Gelato pack came with a dropper and instructions for shaving and dissolving them, I tried that first but it didn't look great. Neither did my second attempt with Brushos and gold Pixie Powder on regular card, but when I switched to watercolour paper I got a better result. I did three big splats, to fill the page.
The embossing folder and robin die are a magazine freebie. Actually, I think the robin's wings look upside-down to me, not sure how much I'll use it now. He's cut from Bazzill, white for the red breast which was sponged with DOX, and I used Liquid Pearls for his beak.
I embossed the splat panel, then coloured the embossing with Couleur d'Art pencils. I added some Craft-T rub-ons in places, and SN clear glitter pen. It was still a bit bland, so I outlined the whole thing with a fine black pen, having already stamped the script in the centre. Looking better now, but perching the robin in the embossed wreath didn't look right. I still had a piece of faux washi left from Judy's TLC a while back stuck to the lid of my stamping platform, so with care I was able to peel that off and add it to the base of the panel, giving me something to perch the robin on. I added some fine spattering with gold Twinkling H2Os, and edged the panel with a TH metallic distress crayon. I don't seem to have many Christmas word dies, but this one seemed to work well, I cut it from a scrap of metallic copper card.
Not my style, but fun to make on a miserable grey afternoon, and it won't go astray come December.

Sorry you're having some gruesome weather. WE've had two fine days in a row, but rain all next week, it seems. I think the wings are upside down...but what do I know? I love the leaves and robin, and your splat looks terrific, mf!

Cute, I don't think his wings are upside down, he is just getting ready to take off. I think he is looking for nicer weather. Glad he stopped by your card for a minute before heading off. Love how your splat turned out.
I like your card a lot. Re: the wings, if you can turn them over I think they would seem better. I can see what you mean, when I look really close. But if you hadn't mentioned it, we probably would never have noticed. It's your art work though, and I know that sometimes something will just bug me. Solving the problem can be very satisfying. Thanks for sharing how you did your spatters.
