Retro Rubber Stamp Challenge #135 Tic-Tac-Toe challenge (https://www.retrorubberchallengeblog...-tac-toe.html). I chose the right-most vertical column (diecut/punch - birthday - bright colors). The challenge also required a stamp that was at least 1-year old. Mine is the retired 2013 Stampin' Up! (SU) "Settin' Sail" set, so it was 7 years old!
The waves were created using two different wave punches listed below. The whale was a free digital SVG file that I edited heavily to simplify it since I wanted to cut it out on my digital cutting machine as a 3" long shape. I cut the outline using a light gray cardstock, and the main body in black cardstock. He was simply tucked and glued into place between the waves.
The sky was created by die cutting a circle and tucking it behind the horizon, then using a elongated stitched border die to cut three different colors of sky as they would appear at sunset.
The final step was the birthday sentiment that was stamped in blue on a banner stamped in black, then fussy cut (since SU didn't make a matching die).
I'll admit this card was a bit more on the tough side because it required LOTS of tools and LOTS of different colored paper (a requirement of RRCB's challenge). TMS' challenge sketch also had sequins scattered around the box, but I felt that my card was busy enough without sequins added. I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "4" out of a possibility of "5". Lots of preplanning, and very specific punching and die cutting were required. It took me about 3 hours to make it. It makes for a great masculine birthday card for someone special, though!
