The inserts pop right out. I get mine at KMart for around $3 for a dozen. I also always check at the public library's book sale as usually they have a box of old cases to take for cheap or free.

I use my crimper all the time to make inserts that go over the front of my card when it goes into the envelope to even out any bumpiness caused by brads or ribbon.

I also use my stylus for scoring...

I just switched to using Scotch foam mounting...

I just switched to using Scotch foam mounting tape rather than dimensionals or other pop-up sticky dots. Goes a lot further and can be cut to size.
